Put in one battery at a time and set each one up before inserting battery No2 and so on otherwise things can be confused. Another advantage of having the Arlo camera with the hub is that the notifications are received quicker.

Nice video I have a question about placing the hub does it need to be connected by ethernet from the hub to your internet modem? Or will it connect Bluetooth.

If you do not add the solar panel, is it easy to remove / recharge the batteries! Do they provide a charger for batteries?

Batteries are charged via usb cable. Yes, the cameras are held on via magnet, so removal for charging and reinstall is very easy.

Good information thanks, We have been seriously thinking about adding the Alro to our 8 camera hard wired system. Ours is an older system and we cover 360 around the house but we have no way to monitor it when we are not home. It records 247 but that is all after the fact video. I would like to enhance what we have by adding the Arlo and have the ability to move cameras around as needed and receive alerts when we are not home or in the middle of the night.

It's been a good system. They have gone to a subscription model for cloud storage in the newer versions (Pro 3 and Pro 4). You can use a USB to store video, but you have the same problem you already have in that you have to view it after the fact without the cloud storage (can't be viewed remotely). You can still buy some Pro 2 versions on Amazon ( amzn.to/3iyOzhr ) though and the Pro 2's provide 2 weeks of free cloud storage. Just make sure when you buy you are choosing one that says "cloud storage included."

I have an older Arlo system with the 3v lithium batteries. I love the product but its so bloody sensitive that it literally responds to bugs or the slightest weed blowing in t he wind, ultimately burning up the batteries very quickly. Any suggestions on how I can optimize this system?

I'm pretty sure you're gonna tell me to flip over to a rechargeable battery set up....I agree. Any optimization for the camera sensitivity would be greatly appreciated!

Mine has a sensitivity setting. Took me a bit to get them pointed and angled and the sensitivity setting the way I wanted, but it's worked well.

I love them! They may be moving to an entirely subscription service though for recordings. At the time I shot this video you could still get some versions with free video recording.

I am still loving it! I have had no problems, and my camera stay 100% charged. If you want the free cloud storage make sure to get the Pro 2. Wiith the Pro 3 / Pro 4 for free storage you need to use a USB. See the description for details.

I still really like it! The only thing to be sure of is you are getting one that has the free 7 Day cloud storage which is the Pro 2 version. Their newer versions have switched to paid-only cloud storage. You can use a USB storage device for those to store video, but those do not allow you to access the stored video remotely. You can still view live video feeds when you get the alert with any of their systems, but you must be at the same location where the system is installed to view the files stored on the memory stick. For that reason only I recommend the older system. But if you don't mind paying monthly fees to access cloud storage the Pro 3 Pro 4 versions are awesome too.

You need the cloud storage to do what you're asking, but with that, absolutely. Arlo 2 systems come with cloud storage for free. Check them out on Amazon and make sure they say "free cloud storage" in the product description. amzn.to/3GNSQrf The newer systems (Arlo 3 / 4) require a monthly fee for the cloud storage. You can get what you want if you pay :_((. Else, you can use a USB to store video at no cost, but that video can only be accessed from the same network the camera is on, not remotely.

Hi mate, nice tutorial. My pro4 coming without hub and their subscription expired yesterday, so I am considering to buy a hub instead of keeping subscription. But I have some concerns. Can I still get the preview from the app after the subscription expires and the camera is integrated with a hub. Some people say we can only have access to he hubstorage when our phone is connected to the same Wi-Fi with the hub, is it correct? Thx.

For the pro4, that is correct. You can only access the video captured when on the same internet connection. You can still find pro2s on Amazon that provide 2 weeks free cloud storage. Just make sure the seller indicates you get the cloud storage. Like this one....amzn.to/3uRn0qV I am not sure if the pro4 cameras work with the pro2 hub though.

What is the range from the base for the camera? Is it the same as my wifi connection, or does the base provide a boost? My router is at the back wall of house, so I'm concerned about a camera that would be mounted on the front exterior. Do you have an opinion on the 2 camera plus a doorbell system now being sold at Costco. One review stated that the usb recording is not available for the doorbell.Thanks

They give you 3 months of cloud storage for free. If you buy an older system, you get 7 days worth of cloud storage for free. The newer systems use USB storage. See notes in my description for limitations of USB. I'm not a WiFi security guy so I don't know about the hacking. But I have WiFi at the house so it is as secure as my wifi. There's no password for the cameras themselves to hack.

The current Arlo options would be a great they didn't require the $10/month cloud service to enable the basic features, like motion detection and notification. If you plan to just use the base station, and not use their cloud service, you won't have motion detection, auto recording, and notifications. I don't need another monthly payment.

I don't use their subscription service, and I get all those features. The only limitation I'm aware of is that to pull up the video I need to be on the same network and I can't define a specific subsection of the field of view to monitor for motion. It monitors everything the camera sees. But yes, I agree, they really blew it when they stopped giving away limited Cloud storage capabilities.
