I was interested to see you went 2NT over opening 2H in 1st hand, I played those hands yesterday and doubled and ended up in 3NT luckily as I made it, so 2NT is showing how many points and presumably good hold in the opening weak 2 bid

Hi Gaye, yes, quite right. That 2NT bid shows points, shape and something in the opener's suit. After an opening at the 2 level it can be quite hard to find the perfect bid but I felt 2NT was a fairly good description of the hand.

Responding 2NT to a weak opening is asking for a feature

Yes. In the hand where I bid 2NT I was overcalling, not responding, but you’re quite right that if it had been partner who opened a weak 2 then 2NT would have a special meaning.
