Ryan. No offence but you and Colton need to chill out on your hypocrite takes. You can’t call those complaining about Kit Andi Mundi’s age “amateur fans”. Amateur fans wouldn’t care about such a detail. And in the same video how can Colton call anyone “whiny” while complaining about criticisms? The show could’ve been better and fans deserved better. It has nothing to do with wokeism, lesbian witches, twins of colour, etc. How can we care about these characters when they’ve done nothing to warrant such emotions? Mae constantly changing her mind every episode was so off-putting. Lastly, as fans of SW. Do better. Stop looking at non-criticisms and actually look at real ones.

The biggest problem with the shows on Disney Plus, and Netflix IMO, are the runtimes. Both HBO and Prime shows seem more intense because they give us ten one hour episodes. Some episodes are even longer than an hour. Nothing seems rushed or skipped over. The Acolyte also screwed up by trying out the mystery format and failing miserably. Just show us the story in order, combine the flashback episodes into one, and focus more on the emotional fallout. The Jedi suicide would have been more believable and tragic, the Wookie losing his mind and becoming a hermit would have been more believable and tragic. Sol's story would have been the most tragic of all. Everything would have been much more intense.

Having an actual TV series instead of a chopped up bad film would be a good way to go. Being able to explore individual characters in depth as they can in novels can easily be done by having separate episodes for different characters. This is something that Boba Fett did very well in terms of character introduction; what it did wrong was have to share this 50/50 with the plot of the overall series due to the limited amount of shows. Proper TV shows (Star Trek TNG and Quantum Leap) have a start middle and end and can be watched out of order and some episodes even missed (for example if it's a Deanna heavy episode). This is due to each episode maybe only having a 5% connection to the overall series arc, rather than 50%. They then use 2 part episodes to take the role of having a film like experience where all characters are involved. All Disney+ shows have been trying to turn a 2 part episode into a whole series - which is why it feels like there is a lot of filler even though there aren't many episodes. They have to much time and to little time at the same time, so you end up with the messes we've been FORCE fed.

Ryan mentioned that he really wanted to see what came next with Yoda and Plagueis because he's a Star Wars fan. It's because I'm a lifelong SW fan (I'm 51 and have never really known a time without SW) that I and so many others hate what Disney is doing to ruin the franchise. The Ki Adi Mundi issue is legit. The date issue wasn’t the point of the anger about KAM being used, it was that they used him to troll the fans about him knowing about some Dark Side user(s) emerging and then saying the line in The Phantom Menace. They went out of there way to show gossip got around that scene and the info wasn’t secured. Nobody really cares about the cannon they rewrote surrounding Mundi’s age- they care about his presence going in direct contrast with a spoken line in one of the films, as well as the undermining of Anakin’s unique birth. Those aren’t trivial aspects of some playing card or CD rom, they’re fundamental truths of the universe that these people rewrote because they were too lazy (or bad at their jobs) to build a story around the existing IP

How do you people not get that Ki Adi Mundi’s cameo reinforces the exact point Lucas made with him in the prequels? Ki Adi Mundi was an arrogant, close-minded fool who rejected the return of the Sith when presented with evidence by Qui-Gon Jinn. Ki Adi Mundi was an arrogant, close-minded fool who rejected the idea that Count Dooku could possibly be a murderer. He represents the arrogance and willful blindness of the Jedi Order. He is emblematic of the exact failings that the Sith exploited to overthrow the Order. Him being there a hundred years ago, having the chance to see that the Sith were never wiped out, AND STILL BEING WRONG when Qui-Gon reports his encounter with Maul to the Council makes his idiocy and arrogance more apparent and more tragic.

@@oskarskalski2982 To be fair, while some of the cast might have been a bit “woo-woo” themselves, very little of that actually made it into the show. I got the impression that the “they” that’s been mentioned was included as a humorous little poke at the people who were just WAITING for something like that. With all the hullabaloo surrounding Leslye Headlund, I fully expected most of the cast to be female. I was delighted to discover that it was actually 50% male. Also, one popular channel ridiculed the fact that she included a character from her teen fan fiction. I fully expected it to be a busty female, but it turned out to be Yord. While there were plenty of issues with the show, I was surprised and happy to see that it wasn’t as bad as so many of us feared. What makes me sad is that so many of the channels that badmouthed the show before it even started could not bring themselves to pull back and admit that they might have jumped the gun a little. If the internet had been around in 1987, we would never have seen a second season of Star Trek The Next Generation. The first season was embarrassingly bad with only four worthwhile episodes (Datalore, Heart of Glory, Conspiracy and The Neutral Zone). Everything else was unwatchable. However, the writers had a chance to take in that feedback and course-correct in the second season. By season 3, we had the classic Trek show that people love to this day. There are SOOOOO many other shows that would have been shelved after their debut season if a handful of squeaky wheels had their way -- Cheers, All in the Family, Seinfeld, DS9, Breaking Bad, Parks & Recreation, The Office... none of them would have seen a second season if those dullards had their way. There’s a lot of things I agree with yall with, like having a 15 + episode season to better flush out character arcs ect. But come on dude, even 30 episodes wouldn’t be able to redeem this show. From beginning to end, this story was horrible. You’re telling me Osha, who did not wield a light saber or use the force much this whole season, is now this all powerful Sith Lord who can force choke? And don’t tell me it’s because she’s a vergence, because if that is true, it diminishes Anakin. In fact, her whole existence and story arc diminishes Anakin. And for what reason did she kill Sol? If she is this all powerful force user, she could’ve peered into Sols mind and found the truth. That it was an honest accident. I mean, if someone turned into a black smoke with no explanation, naturally, I’d get defensive too. The light saber fights were super cool though, no lie. But come on dude, it’s hard to mess up a lightsaber fight. It’s almost guaranteed to get a rise when someone activates. There’s just so many holes in this show and there was just way too much political agenda nonsense in here. It’s poorly written, the actors are subpar, and it’s just plain boring. Y’all are probably just getting paid to say nice things about this show. That, or you’re just afraid to hurt someone’s feelings by telling the truth.

Her sister could force block with minimal instruction, but Osha, who never had a reason to force choke someone and has no defensive capabilities, could not figure out how to do it after having seen herself do it in a force vision. The Force literally instructed her, and the story showed that she did not have control over her negative emotions. It's why she failed at being a jedi. She killed Sol because he blamed her sister and didn't tell her in private what he had done. It's not hard. He lied to her, and when Mae showed up, he still lied to her.

@@ronaldking1054Wow, as someone who dropped this garbage show after episode 1, reading this just made it sound incredibly lame, and its clear I've made the right choice in dropping it.

I think the best thing they could do is a straight up adaptation of the Plagueis novel as a series. Drop a little hint in there about the events of the acolyte. Then fill in the gap between the acolyte and Plagueis in a novel or comics to wrap up the Osha/Qimir story.

Honestly I’m mostly relieved the show got cancelled. The writing in s1 had so many issues that I didn’t feel like the creators could do justice to any of the interesting concepts they did touch on.

Very disappointed to see it cancelled. A good (but not great) show with amazing potential future seasons.

You lost me after you decided to attack the "dorks" who protested against decisions made in the Acolyte and Rings of Power. Just because you don't understand the disconnect, doesn't mean those who disagree are toxic or "dorks." Rings of Power isn't just a "fantasy world." Middle Earth was Tolkien's world. Tolkien intended the LotR saga to be a sort of British mythology. Like it or not, Tolkien described the races and peoples of Middle Earth. It was his world. Anything that went against Tolkien's descriptions is wrong. It breaks immersion. Going against Tolkien's descriptions of characters such as Galadrial is wrong. If Amazon wants to create their own fantasy show, fine. But don't shit on Tolkien's world; a world millions of people of all human races love. Keep your fanfiction. Tolkien told many stories. If Amazon couldn't get the rights, they shouldn't have just assumed they could do equal or better with just a name.

And not the people who made this garbage. How convenient.

I thought it was pretty clear they blamed the writing, pacing, and storytelling more than the fans but they acknowledged that some toxic fans were passing on the show before it came out

literally 90 percent of this video is calling out the bad pacing and writing. you must have been one of the ones crying online before the show came out

FACTUALLY, no one blamed the fans. Ryan, specifically, said that he did not think that fandom had anything to do with the cancellation. Then Colton called some of the fandom a bunch of whiny knuckle draggers who didn’t actually watch the show and don’t know what they’re talking about. Still, no fan was blamed. I guess that proves Colton’s point about fans just going off and not actually paying attention.

Y’all be translating what I’m thinking and feeling so eloquently and thought out. Made this season of HoD more enjoyable and while I found you for acolyte late….you were my source for legends information when I went down the rabbit hole 😂 Would love to hear your thoughts on over the garden wall
