Closest thing I've seen to what it's like marching on the field. You can kinda hear what's going on but you mainly just listen to each other and do your thing. It's a blur and you're going on pure talent and muscle memory from playing these licks literally thousands of times. Back when I marched we didn't have Go Pros, count yourselves lucky the technology you guys have these days to remember how great percussion and marching is. You can't describe it unless you've done it. Way to go Bloooooo! You've deserved this for a while.
@KawiAddict467 жыл бұрын
sullimd Yep we didn't have em either. Would've been cool though!! I marched 3 years out of 4 (you were in pit freshman year) and it really is crazy, the coolest thing to me was marching while you were backwards, then you really are just going off of count in your head and muscle memory for the next set of steps. Had so much fun. Edit: To clarify I meant like facing the opposite direction not just marching backwards lol should've worded that better, but the were a couple times a year at least where we were turned around and still keeping formation 👌 tricky stuff.

The thing that brought back the most memories was the physical exertion indicated by the heavy breathing during the small moments of rest. I'd forgotten what that was like and this video brought it all back 25 years later. I was lucky enough to be part of one of the best lines in the state and the wave of exhilaration when you'd finish a performance that you knew was top notch - there's nothing like it.

There is something that no non band member will ever know when it comes to marching band. In marching band your band becomes more than a family as you trust everyone while they do their moves. Your section/squad becomes more and more of your family as you guys work all season together and share the same instrument. You almost spend countless hours perfecting formations with all of these people! This is my senior year and I've made a friend this year from it that I hope lasts years to come as we share the same instrument and interests.

This was actually the first DCI video I ever watched, back around the end of 2019. I was looking for a performance of a percussion ensemble piece the other half of Percussion Ensemble 2 was doing in my freshman year of high school (for anyone curious, the piece I was looking for is called _Downside, Up and Around_ and is by Jeffrey Barudin), to which there was only like one, maybe two videos of it that I could find. Basically everything else was just stuff from this show. While _Down Side Up_ may not necessarily be my absolute favorite DCI show, it is certainly pretty high up there, and this video will always hold a very, very special place in my heart. Thanks for the HeadCam, Matt, and thanks for the video, Andrew.

Incredible performance and view. I'm a woodwind player so it's crazy seeing the show from the percussion side. Having a TON of fun.

10:08 is the " stick toss" and at the end there's another but the one he was talking to the drum major about was at 10:08 if you had trouble looking for it

As an alto sax player this wants me to just quit that and learn how to play snare
@jacobhanekamp25345 жыл бұрын
Stay on Sax, learning Snare Drum is something you either commit to at a young age or you dont commit period

GamingWithFun15 / GamingWithFunOffline I cant really say this with knowledge, but the way I see it is to do what you want. I don’t think it is ever too late to learn snare. Just always practice.

Jacob Hanekamp this is such a stupid comment, assuming he made this comment as a high schooler, it definitely would not have been too late. I started as a junior (3 years ago) and currently march drumcorps and have a couple of years to move up to dci. Of course not Bluecoats but then again they're one of the best drumlines at the moment
