Revisiting this head cam after three years gives me a special type of sweet and sour fuzz. Downside Up was my introduction to the amazing world of drum corps, especially this video amongst the collection of many others. Hearing the ballad moved me beyond belief. As an eighth grade, I thought that I’d never have the opportunity to march drum corps because I’m a clarinet player. Recently, I joined my first corps as a junior on baritone and looking back at this gave me hope for a bigger future in drum corps. I can’t believe how far I’ve come, and I’d like to give some credit to this. Thank you to all the performers out there that have overtaken me, it has been the utmost pleasure to shape who I am through you

"Where's my mouthpiece?" Everyone's heart in the corps stops for a second.
This is so awesome to watch. I'm 13 and I want to audition for drum corps when I'm older because I have discovered the blue coats. My school lets 8th graders march up in our marching if they are good enough. ( I had to audition.) I was super lucky to have made it in and it lit a flame in my heart. I love to play trumpet, and I practice for hours every day. its practically in my blood, ( my mother, father, and sister all play/d trumpet) and I was always jealous of my sister because she was so good. she was the main soloist at our school and was considered a legend ( she was GOOD.) I was always just seen as her little sister, ( until she quit.) this video has inspired me to be part of the blue coats when I'm older, loved the video your awesome! Edit: heyo guys it’s been awhile. Dreams still going good, at the moment I’m seventeen and heading into my senior year. I’m mostly focused on getting into music school at the moment for music education and trumpet performance, but I’m also back in the swing of marching since band is back. (Stupid COVID) my plans to audition are still there but will probably not be put into place untill Next year because I’m just too busy to go to audition for drum core this year and have plans for next summer. Buttttt after next summer when I’ve got into a good collage I’m for sure going to audition. I even have a few friends who want to come along as well. That’s the plan for now. :)

He played every solo except for the coolest one at 8:20 but he got the most beautiful ones also so it’s a win/lose
@mr.mister26195 жыл бұрын
I dont think that solo would have had the same effect on flugelhorn that it does on trumpet. It needs that ping and tone that trumpet gives off

My personal worst note for coming in on cold is high Ab, major props to Ben that he nails it every time. That alone makes him a god in my eyes, also major appreciation to whomever edited this, amazing job.

DEGOBEATS and that's fine, as long as you're trying to hit them. Just practice and you'll get there.

@@darealkokujinz1503 I can play Triple gs
@ianian24254 жыл бұрын
Comrade Carter no offense but I highly doubt that, if you can you should be a trumpet professional (as long as you can play a legit triple g without pinching)
@him60084 жыл бұрын
@@ianian2425 Yeah, I pinch and I know that, still can play them. Double c to e is my range where I don't pinch.

Wow I had not realised this video has 2,7 million views, the best for a dci video I think.. I'm not that surprised I'm probably half of those

Ben, I know since this is like 7 years old so you probably won't see this, but as a snare player, you have got to be my favorite trumpet of all time, from your opener solo in Tilt to your flugelhorn (i think flugelhorn) solo in the ballad in 2016, it's all just absolutely golden. also on a completely unrelated note, nobody talks about how absolutely amazing the part at 12:24 sounds, i have no idea what it's technically called since i'm a snare but it just sounds. SO. GOOD.

If you're talking about the trombones, it's called a glissando!
