I hate hate hate the soulmates trope, I hate the idea of someone falling in love with you JUST because they have to. In my opinion, it completely cheapens (lol is that a word) any value the relationship had in the first place because if the characters are only attracted to each other and get together because it's their fAtE, how can we know that their "feelings" for eachother are even real, does it not invalidate everything they went through to get to the point of getting together?? I'd rather have someone love me because they chose to, not because they're magically obligated to.

I used to be a huge SJM fan but her writing has gone so downhill. Crescent City was a 3 star for me and Silver Flames was a 2. I feel like Mor was gone because she's gay now and SJM won't write gay characters. I hated the ending. I hated that Nesta and Cassian couldn't have just chosen each other instead they have to be mates. I hated the baby story line. I hated that she overly sexualized these characters and I hated most of the sex scenes,. too. I hated the extra scenes from the special editions. The characters and series just fuck each other or think about fucking each other and do little else. There is no more plot. It's just faerie porn now. SO sad.
@alilbitmads3 жыл бұрын
Yeah she definitely steered hard into the faerie porn territory instead of developing the world/side characters more.

@@alilbitmads Yep. Exactly and it's SO repetitive. She got up, trained with Cassian and worked in the library for 300 pages!!! It was always fae porn. I'm going to be honest was there any actual world building/plot in any of Sarah J mass books? Courts of thorns and roses was basically a rehashed Beauty and the Beast retelling, and 90% of the book was just about Feyre and Tamlin flirting and rigorously humping each other with clothes on. Half the time she spent shit talking about her family and then randomly out of no where wants to desperately try and go back home. Despite knowing full well she'd be fucking over everyone, if she did. Immediate contradicted in the first few chapters. Sarah can't even keep her main character consistent... Literally I forgot the curse and Queen and feyre is just a bitch. Second book is literally just about Feyre wanting to fuck the bad boy her universe.

LIKE CALLS TO LIKE. I just needed to say it. Don’t even ask. This is the first video-review on KZbin which didn’t make ACOSF sound like God’s gift to the fantasy genre. I liked the book a lot when I started to read it. Yes, I adore Cassian.. that guy has the same vibe as a golden retriever, but more sexy and dangerous. Anyway… page after page I got more and more pissed off and even stopped reading it because.. why spent more time on it? The inner circle treated Nesta like Tamlin treated Feyre and absolutely no on seems to have a problem with that which is.. just wow. This woman went through a trauma and showed some very unhealthy behaviour and instead of trying to listen to her they started to treat her like a rebellious teenager, slut-shamed and degraded her. I was especially shocked when Mor wished that Nesta would live with people like her lunatic family. That was beyond. I liked the banter between Nesta and Cassian at the beginning. Azriel is a 10/10. No questions. And yeah….. I dislike Rhysand. A LOT. I hate him. I must admit that I feel bad for Tamlin (yepp) because while he’s an asshole I also get why he thought he was protecting Feyre - I kind of get where he’s coming from, especially when I think about his shitty upbringing and his own trauma (so many traumatised characters). Also while we (and Rhysand) were in Feyre’s head and saw her POV, Tamlin didn’t have that advantage. He didn’t know shit. I'm acutally glad they didn't work out. Yeah, yeah, I like the big abusive ex-boyfriend. I feel like he was being thrown into the trash can out of nowhere… at least he is being held accountable for his bullshit. See, Rhysand is never held accountable for all the shit he pulls, be it (SPOILER) not telling Feyre she could bloody die due to her pregnancy or abusing, groping and kissing her to spite Tamlin and being a generally possessive assh*le - sorry - MATE (I’m just really mad at Rhysand and while I shouldn’t compare him to Tamlin.. that’s what SJM wanted us to do, no? To show how much more appealing Rhys is). Let’s stop this topic right there. There was no real plot. That's it. What I also didn’t get is Lucien and Elain’s roles. They were like *there* so we don’t forget about them when the upcoming book is published or something. Idk what to make out of these two, they’re like waiting in an imaginary queue until their time has come.

No, you are so entirely wrong and misguided. Not every book needs to include gay people. Just no. That’s you being entitled and thinking you deserve something just because. An author makes his/her own choices regarding characterisation etc. If you want to read a book with gay characters, then go and do just that. Or about characters that are entirely traumatized. Or less-capable. Or Asian. Or. Or. Or. A book simply doesn’t HAVE to do anything. She writes, she decides. It’s as simple as that. You can want something, you can definitely wish for something but no, you are not entitled to anything. And no, I don’t mind reading about gay characters. At. All. Yay gay! But regarding books, no, nothing needs to happen. I hope she’ll write a book about Mor. I hope we’ll get an amazing Mor book, including gay scenes IF Maas wants to make her character gay or bi. Sure. Yay. But that’s it. Other than this, I agree with most of your review. And yes, Maas needs to grow.

I also didn't like that for three books we had this 'Nesta will die for Elain', in the book she says 'She was okay with selling her body to feed Elain', but actually we got nothing about the sisters. Nothing at all was explained, or showed, or stated why Nesta loved Elain so much. Like was she abused, is she sick? I mean there was nothing about the 'oh so magical' bond between them. Nesta was just mean, and Elain wasn't even in the book :D I could have easily given up like 7 sex chapters, for a chapter of the sisters just fighting it out.

@tanyam86108 ай бұрын
I read all books in the series and this is, by far, my favorite book. Feyra’s character is flat, so is Rhys’s. They nice and sexy but they are the same people thought the whole series. Nesta’s character went through so much development. Whether you like Nesta’s character or not, but from writing stand point, this book has an amazing character arch while other books did not. Well, the first one kind of did with F hating fairies and then not. I felt this book was for grown ups. I do agree that i would like to see a love story that is not between mates.
@scarletburdette76623 жыл бұрын
I get the whole mate thing but does every romantic relationship have to be because their 'mates'. Look, I'm fine with one or two pairings being because their mates but every single one? I don't understand just because your mates, why do you have to fall in love with that person? It just comes out as loving someone just because they're your mate, nothing more and nothing less. I prefer it being like you become mates as yours and your partner's own choice, not from being destined or fated. Another thing I was a bit annoyed by was the fact that Fayre got pregnant so damn quickly. Like, the war just got over and kids are supposed to be super rare and the fact both her and Rhys wanted to have time together for a while. Like I'm happy they're going to have a family, I just wish it happened later.

Even wolves , real wolves don't mate that way 😭😭. This trope originated because authors couldn't find a way to write two people falling in love and being obsessed with each other from day 1 , without being a creep ; and probably some of those authors secretly want arranged marriage because who tf wants to woo a partner and establish a relationship without coming out of the basement?

Ok so ..I Read every book ,TOG,CC 1&2 and Acotar and I must say that this is the most hypocritical book I have ever read ,so let’s all remember that all of these characters are morally grey (yes even feyre) and also that most of them also had addictive behavior and very unhealthy traits (some drink and some go on a murder spree etc ),so why is Nesta blamed (as an immortal Fae) that she wants to party and drink ? Also it’s really petty that she as a war hero (she is ),has no right to a pension of some sorts ? After all let’s remember that it really is Feyres fault that they were captured (also yes that they regained their wealth but nvm) and turned ,also feyre is miss holy but clearly shows Nesta she doesn’t see her as real family (yes she loves her but many gestures make it seem like she doesn’t want Nesta in her life ,like the paintings etc)….Also Rhysand is a groomer and Tamlin is also an abuser …as a man I can’t imagine how so many girls romantize these men ….
@razaketh Жыл бұрын
Rhysand is a very nice character if you only read ACOMAF (except the very sketchy stuff ) and the love story is romantic ,but the whole mate stuff is BS ….Tamlin had many red flags in the first part (also feyre had Stockholm syndrome fr) and I knew he wasn’t the fit …..until part 3 every character made sense (except amarantha who was just silly ) ,but Silver and Flames made an 180 and some actions can’t be explained by narrator switch

So my girl Nesta has something called complex trauma. It is where you are traumatized so consistently in so many times you’re fucking broken and one of the many symptoms of complex trauma is you cannot trust people even if they have nothing but good intent you cannot trust them even if you want to you just can’t yeah the inner circle tried doing goodbye her but she was so traumatized. It scared her and she had really bad coping mechanisms, but she felt like she deserved all the. Bad things she was doing to herself all of the bad things she was doing was just a different form of self harm
@lysabelle39902 ай бұрын
I agree, she is suffering from that, I just wish people would stop 1. Trying to villinze Feyre to justify Nesta's emotional abuse and 2 minimizing what Nesta does to others. She is struggling and people aren't always good people when they are struggling, and that should be understood. Does Feyre deserve it no, but many characters are doing things to people that don't deserve it and it doesn't suddenly make it right b/c people like a character. I keep thinking of the 2 fae Feyre killed She didn't want too kill them but I doubt they would feel like she didn't murder them b/c reasons. I just really hope they start making Cassian nicer to her and her to him otherwise they can find others I am tired of him not defending her the way I think he should even if he thinks Nesta is wrong he should be checking Rhysand

I'd rather see her with Eris (I know he's an ass but character development?) I just cannot see Lucien as a serious character and I don't really care about him. I'd like to see Mor and Emerie together because of the trauma-bonding ❤️. Also, I'd like to see what happens to Tamlin. I kinda feel really bad for him. I'm almost done with ACOWAR and ACOSF honestly intimidates me to no end, mostly because of how polarized everyone is on it. Nesta is a complex and flawed character and the way people describe her as an unforgivable c-word is jarring. Like, are we all reading the same book? I seriously thought she was going to be chucking babies off of cliffs the way people describe her. I'm already aware of what will happen and even read some of the smut scenes in ACOSF because I was too curious (IDK why but SJM erotica is very, um, unsexy IMO and I'll likely just skim those chapters) Aside from those two concerns I genuinely hope I'll get to enjoy ACOSF when I get to it. This vid helped quell a bit of my concerns; I'm fine with the book being "okay" or less than perfect, but terrified of character assassination.
