LOL "Flash me!" Got some gems in there. Particularly fond of those 6800 Ultras (but of course I am).

When all of this hardware was coming out, I was in HS and not anywhere near planet PC gaming yet. I was heavily into Runescape though. It’s cool to see what was trending back then and seeing how far the tech has come now. New Sub here 👍🏽

I still have my original Leadtek GeForce 7600 GS and I bought a second hand BFG GeForce 9800 GT 2 years back. Have not tried benchmarking them both yet!

That cooler of the Gigabyte card is a OEM version of the Zalman VF 700 cooler. Nice quiet cooler, I put one on my Radeon 9800 Pro back in the days.

Hey fellow retro GPU collector here. I own somewhere in the range of 100 or so GPU's right now so I will say cautiously I am qualified to speak on the subject. Be extremely cautious when testing those 7000 series cards. They suffer from an issue known as Bumpgate. Basically they were the first cards to be made with much weaker RoHS compliant lead-free solder. Basically overtime the 7000 (and most 8000 series cards) series cards suffer from failure of the micro-BGA solder joints underneath the GPU die. I assume you already do this but redo the thermal paste and when your testing keep your system where you would be able to smell anything from the case easily as in my experience the first sign of failure is the distinct "magic smoke" smell. I recommend a hard kill switch such as a power strip. Any chance you would be interested in some sort of collaboration? I have several hundred parts and around 50-60 computers (parts in machines are being counted in the several hundred BTW LOL) at my disposal and I also have (and I'm in no way attempting to boast) a ridiculous knowledge of retro computing parts. I keep meaning to do videos on my stuff but tbh I don't have the time to do full blown video production right now. I could probably make some segments for you or do some voice overs or provide statistical and comparison data sets with my hardware. Basically you get more content and additional resources for nearly nothing, I just would expect credit for my work.

P.S.: I have an 8800GTS lying around you can have for parts if you need it. It's an XFX 640MB I believe.

great vids! i was just digging through some of my old pc's, and found some cool old graphics cards. i just upgraded my rig, and got a EVGA Geforce 1080Ti, but looking back at my old ones was fun. i found a Radeon HD 4650, it has 1gb of DDR2,..really tiny card. a Radeon HD 5770,..looks like it has 1gb of DDR5? not sure. a few other ones i don't recognize,..one just says "Jaguar" on the back,..a little sticker.
@F2FTech6 жыл бұрын
Very nice. That card that says jaguar on the back is probably a 5570. Anyway, cool start of a collection 😉

yeey! new video! I have pistachios, popcorn, oven baked chips and BEER! if you flash that 8800 GTS, tell me because i think i need to reflash a 1050 gtx. never try it. :D i know how to do it manually but i don`t know with software in windows. the 7950 gx2 if it power doesnt mean its working. you need to test it with XP. mine it's the same and it's so hard to find one working. the collection it's getting serious now :D don`t bake the GTS the solder is different and it will stop working instantly. you can try but they have a high rate of failure in the oven. :D tweet if it works :P 590 FTW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@F2FTech6 жыл бұрын
LOL! Agreed on the 7950 GX2, I really need to test in Windows 7 or XP. I’ll keep you in the loop. Also, I have another 8800 GTS 512 that I baked and now it works...I’ll try it with this one and let you know. I need to get a station like you 😉 regardless, I’ll let you know. GTX 590 for life bro 🤜

you should test UT3 physX with and without that agia card because i wanted to along time ago but couldnt get that card at the time
@Mini-z19946 жыл бұрын
There are some drivers too enable legacy support with some of the early physx games rather then the card itself. they do link the physx drivers for the ageia physx card here along with the legacy support driver as mentioned. www.nvidia.com/object/physx-9.14.0702-driver.html

@tim31726 жыл бұрын
Sorry if this is a stupid question, but does anyone know why you'd want a 2x molex splitter for use with the card at 9:20. As in, why would you want to connect 2 molex connectors on the same card to a single molex on your PSU? I could see why you'd want that for two hard drives or similar but if it needs dual molex surely splitting one would not be the best idea.
@F2FTech6 жыл бұрын
Would probably be okay, as it’s just a single 12v for each molex.

Do you have an nvidia quadro fx 5800 in your collection ? 4gb of vram in 2008!
@F2FTech6 жыл бұрын
I’ve been eyeing them as they come up when I search FX 5800 Ultra on eBay 😅. GTX 280 with 4GB of vram sounds like a fun time with GTA 4.

F2F Tech I have 2. And 2 fx 4800s if you're interested. They're too expensive on ebay.
