I only had the HD2600Pro back then. No budget hahahaha My friends had GeForce 8600/8800 though. But the HD2600Pro still had a more vibrant color output that I liked.

In hindsight the fx cpus turned out to be better than their intel counterparts, for example the fx 6300 is still super good and usable if you want to play the ps4 era games whereas the 2nd and 3rd gen i3 are absolutely useless in that regard. Speaking from experience as i used an i3 3220 and would always have to cap the framerate to 30 and close the background processes, whereas not so much with my fx system

I used a Sapphire HD 2900XT 512 mb model. After about a year and a half the card failed and was replaced under warranty with an Nvidia GTX 260^2 Core 216. Good times

I don't get it. It's GPU bottlenecked, not overheating but still doesn't go up to it's max spec 900 mhz gpu clock.

WHEW this brings back memories.......I remember building a Phenom 2 X4 PC to replace my old core 2 duo and ...yeah that was the last AMD CPU i ever purchased....it was a TERRIBLE gaming CPU....although the HD4850 and 4870 I got still working great in my spare PC/ media server. I just never shook the disappointment of that first ALL AMD PC....(people don't forget AMD....they just don't)

Perhaps I had a faulty unit because I remember texture pop-in and screen flickering to be a problem in every game I played at that time it was TLOTRBFME2ROTWK (YES ITS A REAL GAME TITLE ...LONGEST GAME NAME AND ACRONYM FOR A GAME EVER I BELIEVE ) HAHAH CPU was at 99-100% permanently with slipstream light XP build using as much as 30% CPU just on the desktop....like WUT!!?!??!...in retrospect though i could have been maxing out the memory controller as I had 8GB of ram (4 sticks of 2GB's)...something I never though to test back then.

7:57 idk man when you look at the memory bandwidth, the HD 4000 and 7800 GTX has probably roughly the same memory bandwidth. The HD 4000(ivy bridge) also has shared L3 cache with the cpu, which cripples the iGPU performance. Then add to that the Intel drivers for ARC which were basically lackluster for DX9-11. You can expect that the HD 4000 no longer receives any updates and maybe the DX9 title would perform poorly. You also can't really optimize a game for new DirectX/openGL features/ways of interacting with gpu pipeline, which allows expressing the shaders and problems in a different way, without a game update. It's just usually with new directx/opengl/vulkan versions the effects, scene complexity is being increased alongside it, so we don't always notice the performance improvements. Then there are openGL/directx extensions which can only be used with older graphics card, so some of the `better code` might be stuck behind what was a temporary solution, before it made it into the spec or was superseded by something else.

Voodoo 2, GeForce 256, Radeon 9700, GeForce 8800, GeForce 1080Ti, these are all known as ridiculously good graphics cards that massively outperformed their competition and price and stayed relevant for quite some time despite new generations coming out. Unfortunately 1080Ti itself was more of an oddball and otherwise for the past decade we are not getting great offerings anymore. Just iterative ones. BFGTech themselves were great guys and before the financial crisis of 2008 they had a ridiculous warranty whereby if you lived in US - you had a lifetime warranty (10 years otherwise, which was still beyond anything any other manufacturer offered) and if your videocard broke - they were replacing it with a next generation one of an equal class at no charge. Sadly after 2008 with that kind of policy they ended up going bankrupt and that lifetime warranty lasted only for a BFGTech lifetime.

I had my Fx8350 from 2016 to 2024 (recently moved to a ryzen platform). My rig specs were: - Fx8350 (4.4ghz oc'ed during first 2 years, after that i chilled and leaved the CPU at 4.0/4.3Turbo emulating Fx8370 stock) - Hyper 212 Evo - Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2 - 16gb (2x8) Hyper X Fury 1866mhz CL11 DDR3 ram - 120gb SSD SATA3 windows and software drive - 1TB HDD SATA3 games and files drive - from 2016 to late 2017 i paired with an R7 370 4gb Sapphire Nitro. The GPU worked great for its time given the fact that i was rocking a 1360x768 60hz 19' LCD. 60+fps was very common in both AAA and MOBA tittles even at ULTRA settings. - From 2017 to 2023 paired with Rx 570 4gb Sapphire Pulse and 1080p 22' 64hz LCD. Rx 570 was a great pair for the Fx8350, i played a lot of tittles (mainly MOBA games like WOT, WOWS, or War Thunder, but also some AAA games like Far Cry Primal, Tomb Raider, Rise of Tomb Raider, Sniper Elite 3 and 4 and others) at 60+fps at ultra or High settings. In Dx12 tittles bottleneck was non existant, but in Dx11 tittles you could feel a little bottleneck (not so important since it was minor). - From 2023 to 2024 i paired with Rx 580 4gb Sapphire. i didn't notice any gaming improvement, but the bottleneck in Dx11 was a little higher. I would still consider the Fx8350 a valid CPU for 1080p 60fps gaming in most tittles, but for 2024 its a very dated, underpowered and long term death platform, so the bargain to get one should be really good. That being said, i would suggest anyone on an Fx4300 and Fx6300 cpu to get an Fx 8350 (or Fx8320e if the mobo only supports 95w CPUs) and 16gb DDR3, since the CPU upgrade will keep the platform usable for a couple years (yes, i'm saying this in 2024) and 16gb ram is still OK for gaming.

@@Face2FaceHardware Thank you for your reply! That would be amazing! I do own two xtx(one cf and one normal) and would be amazing to make the 501 cf pair. Is no bios dump anywhere on the internet so I think the new owner will be the first in history to give us the chance to keep the uber edition alive and growing! I would really appreciate and if the new owner would ever allow the cards to bring a big smile on someone’s faces I would be more than interested to buy them! Please let us know if the owner can give us the bios dump! ATiTool v0.26 on XP will be able to dump the bios, this is the easiest way! Kind regards and really appreciated!

yea those old 8800 GTX's ran damn hot, ik with mine i repasted it some years later and even before that was always running it at 100% fan, yeah it was a bit loud, but it stopped being a damn space heater with max fan. recently repasted my old BFG 8800 GTX with thermal grizzy kryonaut, and she rarely goes above 60-65c now! crazy what temp reduction you can get with better pastes.

Hello i have the same card but after 5 minutes of gaming it already has over 90 Degrees and is extremely loud. If i dont stop gaming it goes even higher to over 95 degrees. I changed cooling pads and cooling paste today (good one from arctic). But to no avail. It still gets so hot. But i noticed that the stock cooling mounting bracket on the backsite is missing. Does this cause the high temperatures cause the mounting pressure is not enough?
