This base was robbed and destroyed mostly while I was gone. I'll try to make an update vid as I have a lot of unpublished footage, but I've kinda lost my motivation to keep making videos since this always seems to be the inevitable outcome any time I do, people go out of their way to find me and I can't be around full time since I have to work. I'm going to pin this comment if you don't mind since many are asking me what happened.

@@xcvsdxvsx How do you expect to save that kind of money when the cost of living is ridiculous unless you live in your parent's house without any bills 6 years is just wishful thinking.
@xcvsdxvsx5 жыл бұрын
@@TheCrazyman1227 Like I said, you have to be willing to go anywhere in the country that is going to pay the best. That calculation has to take into account cost of living not just salary. And yea you may be well advised to take the sort of job that provides housing. For example oil fields out in nebraska do that sort of thing. If that's not an option then consider living with several room mates to cut down on costs. Not just on rent but you can make big meals, big stews and stuff that will save a lot on food. People have this mentality that they should be able to achieve success where ever they happen to be with the sorts of arrangements they want in their life. I should be able to get a biology degree because biology is what I like and I should be able to find a job near me in my field and make good money bla bla bla. Our boomer parents had that. Good for them I guess but that doesn't exist for us. For us to achieve success we have adapt to the world around us rather thane expecting it to adapt to our wants. Success, however, can still be achieved if we are willing to be flexible and make sacrifices.

And a few like old Buzzard of the gold channel. I still keep a GPA membership. And metal detect a little. Are those yucca trees in the intro or giant jumping cactus. 😀

I would also suggest finding a cheap minivan or pickup truck as a mobile base camp for when you are moving around the land rather then needing to return at night to extend hunting time. Keeping them separate from your main truck is so you spend less time setting up to head out each time and you can do insane things like foam the tires to completely avoid flats but would be bad for road driving. To make processing the soil faster a tromel can make the process very fast and with some in work you can even pass the large rocks into a metal detector coil to locate chunks still attached to them rather then losing them to spoils piles. A ring roller to turn 1 inch sq steel tube into rings to mount the screens to and using the same 1 inch sq tube to make an inner rock shoot to let the gravel down to the screens but keep the rocks off them.

Likely not viable for mining. You can hobby sluice streams, and the further north, the better from what I've heard. Looking for cut streams that go east to west. But Ozarks, not really sure on that being any kind of viability. Good luck.

@@proletariategg There's an old silver mine about 2 miles from a plot on my short list. Is that too far away to mean anything for me? Thanks for the advice.
@USMiner5 жыл бұрын
Agree with Hustle Bones, but if you are just doing it for fun then some glacial color can be rewarding as long as income doesn't depend on it. I am not very familiar with Missouri though, wish I could help more. Prospecting pretty much starts with a pan, shovel and a whole lot of time reading/watching anything you can find. Every place is different so there is a big rabbit hole to fall down for your specific location of interest. I started with Jay Ransom's Gold Hunter Field Book (mostly for the location information) and then started reading USGS reports on specific areas I found in it. Good luck, its an adveture!

@USMiner5 жыл бұрын
Thanks, yep still have my 4500, the GPZ got cheap enough to buy one again though and I needed it to do some pocket prospecting that the 4500 falls short with. I sold the last GPZ because (among other reasons) I knew I was taking a few years off to go work and save money to get some land, so I figured they'd lower the price eventually (they did) and make me take a huge loss on it so I got rid of it, bought it back cheaper than I sold my last one used, and got a new warranty. Will probably sell this one next year too, I keep hoping something lighter is in the works!
