Question, why bubbles apprear on the surface of copper?
@christopherrumford5 жыл бұрын
Nice video,I am looking to zinc plate my steel railings prior to painting them. Obviously I would need to scale the process up somewhat. Could you do a video on replating gold fingers/connectors on printed circuit boards,I belive this would be very useful for many people. Best regards

Random thought, cody's lab brought me here. Have you tried thermal diffusion of zinc plating on copper? It makes a brass finish. I kind of want to try it but there isn't much published.

Why you did not get shocked while your fingers are touching the wire when you immersed the copper sheet in solution and the power was on??

Theoretically if you heat this up with a torch you will get the brass plate on this copper strip

Very informative and simple👍. Can u tell what was the voltage used here? Also can u tell the details of this zinc sulphate solution?

@@sidharth2773 Not just that bro. There are experimental reports which show that ONLY specific currents and voltages result in excellent zinc coatings. If u provide higher voltages, the coatings tend to be brittle.

Ya that you can find at any research paper

can you tell me how many grams of zinc sulphate you did dissolve in water? and the volume also of the solvent you used? Thank you very much!

hey, i am trying to replicate this, do you by chance remember how many grams of ZnSO4 u used and the volume of the solvent? thanks

Thank you so much for this video !!!! As far as reversing the zinc back to copper do I need a zinc plated object in the solution to reverse it or can I use anything that’s metal ??? Please get back I’ll greatly appreciate it

Heat the zinc plated copper as it is on a hot plate

won't the zinc on the copper deteriorate quickly due to galvanic action?
@kazutosamurai-sama31664 жыл бұрын
Not if the copper is completly covered by the zinc. If the copper is completly covered, the oxygen can not be reduced on the copper whit the electrons of zinc (since the copper is covered, O2 cannot touch the copper). But if there is a slight scratch, the O2 then can touch the copper, meaning that the zinc will be oxidized.

@@Nick2014B you're welcome. But keep in mind that only galvanic action is prevented that way. What I mean is that the copper will be protected by zinc, which means the latter will get oxidized in the place of the copper. So whit time, metallic zinc will disappear, and once enough of it disappears to reveal the copper beneath, galvanic action will appear, further oxidizing the zing
