I don't like that everyone except for Zipp were being dismissive about the magic fluctuating. This is the most monumental occurrence to ever happen in their era, and one of their friends is concerned about the stability of its conduit, even if Zipp is being paranoid, it's definitely worth monitoring.

Particularly as Sunny never came across in the movie as an "it will be fine" kind of personality. Its just impossible to believe she would blow off a potential issue like this. Then the whole premise that they didn't realise they had to maintain harmony for magic to remain, it makes no sense they wouldn't know this given it was harmony that brought magic back. Very disappointing writing.

She simply could not cope with the IDEA that everything she ever dreamed to achieve could just "go puff" (again); at least not within her life [things going back to those old, ugly, boring, magicless days]. . Sunny was the only one noticing "something" (her own random power outbursts); the rest never experienced any "anomaly" when it may have happened (Izzy is not always using her horn, Pipp is not always flying). . The "Harmony Requirement" was established as an "unlock all the contained magic" trick [ it was never clear that the Unity Crystals are a "cell tower" constantly beaming magic in a 360º ]. Ponies just assumed that they "got" the magic back into themselves [something Sunny may had "explained" from Argyle´s research about how pony magic behaved in the distant past]. . My theory is that they believed the Crystals were "slowly discharging" themselves after that first initial "burst" of magic [to avoid accidentally "overloading" ponies, making their horns explode or something]. -> The fact that unicorns are NOT shooting laser beams (or reading minds), nor pegasi are making tornados or controling the rain... may had led them to believe that MORE magic will become "available" later [not less or nothing].

I feel like pinkie pie in fim izzy uses her cheerful demeanor to cover her frustration like pinkie pie,and glitter as a drug might keep her sane,cause if Izzy is related to pinkie pie,I would hate to see her crack,since we've seen sunny crack up like twilight did,and the scary thing is the ponies emotions. are connected to the weather,and when these ponies go nuts,it seems. maybe every generation shouldn't have their emotions linked to emotions i noticed in generation 1 when the flutter ponies got upset there went flutter Valley,and it was cause rosedust got upset,and fractured the ruby crystal,and destabilized the weather in flutter valley,and interesting where g5 got the musical group dreamlands was from g1 mlp since the ponyland state where firefly,and her friends lived was named dreamland,and their future home was dreamland estates,even Meghan asked when she arrived in ponyland if she was in a dream,and think about our myths of unicorns,and pegasi,even the movie the last unicorn the unicorn was told not to leave the dreamlike forest,or her magic would disappear ,like in the chip and Dale rescue rangers movie once peter pan left his magical world he lost his magic to stay young,and he became bitter,so he decided to steal the fantasy of Hollywood for his own gain,like how opaline in g5 mlp wants to take pony magic for her own gain for being excluded by Celestia,and Luna,and chip,and Dale,and mlp still both live in a version of our Hollywood,California,imagine if mlp became like the cgi transformer movies where cgi robots come into a version of our world,imagine if the ponies of mlp did this,and then go to hasbro studios,and find out we humans created then,then sunny'descendant goes to the Un in NY,and he,or she says ponies created us imagine the war this would create,Bonnie might have a breakdown,but Luna shows up,and says ponies needed friendships so Luna went into Bonnie's dreams,and got Bonnie to want to create ponies for teaching us lessons about friendship,and tolerance,then Hasbro took the ponies and ran with them for billions of dollars,and what if all 5 mlp cast,and crews of mlp run into the ponies who are coming out of crystal portal that is in the middle of sunset boulevard,and some of the actors feel they drank too much,so they hear what sounds like English coming out of the mouths of the colorful little horses in front of them,and imagine the ponies freaking out when animal control is called,and some of the ponies pass through a toy store with all them as toys,and they know to go to hasbro studios,cause one pony in the group reads the address of hasbro,then the ponies find out their magic doesn't work anymore so the pegasi can't. fly,unicorns can't cast spells,and earth ponies don't have flower power,and too make matters worse a mlp convention is in town,so instead of going to Hasbro the ponies crash the convention where some of us bronies are,and some of us want to ride these ponies,but who would create a cgi/live action version of mlp like transformers,and would be broken down into 2,or 3 movies as chapters,instead of jamming everything into one movie,and would this create generation 6 of mlp,just some interesting speculation if hasbro decided to follow transformers with a even more realistic mlp,since hasbro released transformers rise of the beast just as mlp make your mark chapter 4aired on Netflix,so if hasbro is making money off realistic transforming robots what would stop them from upgrading their little horses for more money,especially. If like transformers,mlp was another jackpot for them.

I’m honestly interested in the new villain. If you read the Gen 5 comic where they meet Discord, he explains to the group how there was a “unicorn” who was responsible for causing disharmony between Earth ponies, pegasi and unicorns. There’s a silhouette in the comic of this “unicorn” and the shape of the silhouette is the exact same shape as this new villain, who if no one knows is apparently names Opaline, and incase the you missed it, she’s an alicorn. The main reason I’m interested in seeing more of her, is because of the fact that she succeeded in ruining the friendships between all the creatures in Equestria, which Celestia’s kept going for thousands of years, and twilight made better by uniting the other races like griffins, hippogryffs, changelings, yaks, and dragons. so if this Opaline character could succeed in doing that, who knows what else she can do.

She was basically a overpowered karen who was like iM gOiNg tO fReEzE tHe wOrLd oVeR, bY nEvEr aLlOwInG tHe sUn tO rIsE eVeR aGaIn, cAuSe mY sIsTeR gEtS mOrE aTtEnTiOn tHeN mE REEEEEEEEEE! And she got defeated by some armature group of ponies just starting to learn how to be friends, work together as a team and just started using the Elements Of Harmony for the first time, plus the mane six had no time to prepare for Nightmare Moon while, Nightmare Moon had a thousand years to prepare and was a veteran of using magic but got beat by some noobs anyways.

Glad I'm not alone in feeling Izzy has gone from the best character to the absolute worst, the Queen also really gets on my nerves. Most of the characters just seem bad compared to the movie, much more annoying personalities which makes the VA change much more jarring. I found the voices too similar, they sort of mingle into one. The movie I can easily tell who is talking from the voice alone, but here sometimes I would lose track of who is talking even while watching, their unique personalities don't come across well which makes it worse. Its a huge contrast compared to G4 where each voice was extremely unique (except AJ and RD very rarely hitting very similar tones). Even the background characters in Make Your Mark just sound bland and samey, its like no effort has been put into their VA work. Watching this react it feels even worse as now I notice just how bad the animation is and the sheer lack of background characters in scenes, an empty lifeless town. I can only hope this was a pandemic related issue in getting it ready on time. If it carries on like this it will be unwatchable for me.

My main problem with this series (so far) is that due to it being connected to My Little Pony G4, it raises alot of questions and continuity errors in the lore. I mean look at how they explained why the Pegasi, unicorns and earth ponies separated. It definitely should've been its own thing instead of being connected to G4.

Overall I think Saber had the most accurate comment, the models themselves are good and the backgrounds have potential but there's a huge lack of polish. Which is compounded by the surprisingly noticeable errors. Hopefully they solve it after the specials are out of the way.

In terms of animation, I hope it goes through a similar trend like other 3d shows where the animation gets better as it goes on. Like the first 1-2 seasons of clone wars looked a bit rough, but season 6 and 7 looked really good. And through some of the clips they've released for the first couple episodes of the show the animation is looking better, so that makes me hopeful at least.

I would like the put forth here my personal idea for how Gen 5 could’ve had a better start: Make Sunny a Unicorn. Think about it, many Unicorns and Earth Ponies and Pegasi were marrying and having kids during Celestia’s reign and then during Twilight’s. Even this far into the future with Earth Ponies only marrying Earth Ponies, the genetic potential is still there for them to produce a Unicorn or Pegasi. Imagine Sunny being the only Unicorn in Maretime Bay and this being the reason for her being passionate about bringing everyone together. It would make Izzy’s entrance even more impactful, as Sunny would finally see someone else like her. She would think she couldn’t perform horn magic because no one taught her, only to find out from Izzy that no Unicorns can anymore. They’d go out and things would largely progress the same from there. It would make Hitch’s character so much more interesting too, as he’d be the only one in Maretime Bay who takes Sunny seriously and doesn’t discriminate against her. So much potential that just isn’t there.

I have not been able to get through Chapter 1 on its own. It just feels so…. off. Maybe it’s just because I’m 30 years old now, not the naive teenager I was when FIM began. But Bronies React, I can always enjoy. So thank you for giving me a reason to watch along with y’all! EDIT: Glad I stuck it out with y’all to get through Chapter 1, because honestly Chapter 2 is pretty good! Seems like the animation team took a little time to find their groove, and the special was probably pretty rushed if I had to guess. I may just end up getting sucked back into the world of ponies once again….

What this whole thing is telling me is basically.. "If you don't get along, pegasi will CRASH AND DIE. And Unicorns and Earth ponies will be CRIPPLED. Suffer. Even though you never had such drastic problems BEFORE the crystals were reunited." I just... I'm _sorry_ guys, I'm really TRYING to give this gen a chance but it just doesn't do it for me :/ It feels wayyy too dumbed down and kiddified. It lacks the magic, fun and appeal that the G4 series had. It's clearly trying to be similar but just comes off as forced, ridged and cringy. OH THE CRINGE.. I do not use that word often because I think it's kinda dumb, but this show gives me no choice. 😬

It should go without saying at this point, but Sunny has some very poorly thought-out ideas. From the movie to the series, she really makes some huge logic jumps and poor decisions. She gets her friends caught up in her enthusiasm, but they need to step back and tell her. "Sunny, that's not a good idea, and this is why..."

I thought this episode was mid, but Im willing to continue watching the series to see where it goes. For me the biggest detractors were Izzy's voice [nobody can replace the absolute queen star power of Kimiko Glenn], Sunny's voice was kind of distracting but to a lesser extent, and of course just Sunny, Zipp, and Hitch getting hit with the idiot stick for plot convenience, like this man paid off his MORGAGE, he was a dependable Sherrif in the movie! Whys he so dumb and why is Sunny so eager to distrust Zipp?? Smh Also Littleshy's clipboard joke was incredible.

I feel like they kinda messed up a little on this premiere? Like, the animation was the lesser evil, it's was even kinda good for a 3d series which usually are kinda messy in the beginning. But the pace, plot and writing are all over the place, it feels like they tried to squeeze two different episodes together and they ended getting mixed up too much. But of course, it's not exactly the series yet, it's a special that will kinda of kickstart it. So let's see what they can do given time to argue and consider the ideas. They did ace with the comics, loved the way the characters were presented there, plus... Discord... just hope we get the same quality in the series.

What is the purpose of having celebrity voices in a film that is only made to introduce a series. You should have had your series voice cast already selected and had THEM do the film voices. 1. It is jarring to go from Voice A in the film and then voice B in the series, 2. You are boxing in your series VA's. The film raised certain expectations when it comes to not only speech patterns, but personality. You make it sooo much harder for your VA's to make the character their own. Sure if it is a one off feature and there isn't a planned series after it, get all the celebs you want to do voices but if it is an intro to a series you just start off by forcing your VA's to try to fit someone else's shoes.

So, from what I can recall. This special was rushed, originally meant to release alongside the rest of the series in September, but they pushed it to May for whatever reason (probably to also coincide the rushed release of the game). You can absolutely tell by comparing the animation and lighting in the special to the rest of the series (or chapter 2 as of now). But for anyone concerned about the series, don’t worry, this was just a bumpy start, chapter 2 is much better (still some flaws but nowhere near as bad as this special). Honestly just feels like they’re trying to get their footing, and I’m willing to wait for them to do so if that means we’ll get some great moments from the show! Also worth mentioning that they probably didn’t have enough time to explain or review the script regarding the brighthouse. It’s explained in tell-your-tale, which is cool continuity, but it’s kind of like Halo 5 (expecting you to have seen the bonus material to understand the events leading up to the game).
