My gf thinks I’m INSANE for putting gravity falls up there with ATLA as two of the greatest cartoons ever made. Not only that but I doubled down and said they are both in the same tier as some of the best SHOWS ever made be it live action or animated. Gravity falls holds such a special place in my heart. You just had to be there while it was airing. It was something so special in time. I will die on this hill and she calls me crazy. IM NOT CRAZY

i still feel like i can’t ever rewatch this show fully because it’ll make me too sad. i grew up alongside it and it was such a huge part of my life that i vividly remember what reactions i had before and after each episode came out. the way it brought people together online to solve the clues was so fun too. i don’t know if there will be another show like it again with the death of cable. glad it’s still holding up after a decade :)

(Well, online anyway) I was following a lot of it on twitter/people's live streams/etc. If you check TV tropes/funny for the treasure hunt, I'm the one that added in the bit on Jason Ritter's expression when he saw the puzzle pieces. If I remember correctly Ritter was in the area for some other reason so decided to tag along. When the puzzle was found people thought he should see it first. Unfortunately I couldn't contribute too much - I'm slow at puzzles and people just... figured them out all instantly - but it was SO MUCH FUN in that time. I was also on tumblr when the Stan's Twin theory started getting passed around! The glasses in the room were a different shape, and Stan was so... melancholy while he looked at them that people figured out about 80% of it right then and there. It was pretty much confirmed after Dream Scaperers where we got our first glimpses of Ford... or rather, kid reading a book in a boxing class being the only person wearing boxing gloves that conspicuously hide his fingers.

It is actually rather interesting that the bill cipher book is for adults considering those who were children or most likely teenagers while the show was happening are now adults. This is awesome as some franchises forget that their fanbase grows up with it

i remember watching this when it aired in 2012, being the same age as mabel and dipper, and growing up alongside it. being there live for each episode, especially not what he seems, is an experience i am sure i will never have again. just rewatched gravity falls recently, it still holds up as my favorite cartoon. what an incredible show!!!

I followed Gravity Falls pretty closely as it aired, so it was great to relive those four years! Took me a few weeks to chip away at the video's chapters, but it was worth it! The biggest surprise for me was learning just how much the crew *didn't* have planned ahead of time, and just made the calls as they went. Great video! Looking forward to the Book of Bill! As an aside, I loved the few lines in there that you voice acted - added a good touch of flavour & personality to it!

But for the cyphers did you have to put that audio for every single one 😭. I put this on while working and that whole section I was like what is this. (Also I haven’t seen the show so maybe it’s relevant please feel free to explain) but for like 10 minutes or however long that section is to hear that audio repeating was a little annoying. Other than that great work on the video you can tell there was just so much effort put into it. Amazing job!
