Hi Becky: FYI - in a few videos I have seen your mom clean her granite counter top with Windex. Over time Windex will run the granite. I googled it for you: Windex contains ingredients that can permanently damage the granite. While the most common damage done by Windex is dulling the shine of the countertops, it can also cause pitting. Windex can strip the sealer off of your granite countertops, leaving the granite susceptible to staining and other damage. Her kitchen is beautiful and would hate to see it ruined!

We are beekeepers in Texas. Chrystalized honey is pure honey. It makes no difference for us which way we store it. We always have the room with very little humidity with a dehumidifyer. And the room is cooled from the ac. It makes no difference...if it is pure honey, it will chrystalize eventually. Just set the jar of honey in a warm pot and let it sit and turn back into liquid gold. We also keep some small bottles in the refrigerator and stir it often and it becomes thick and smooth. It is wonderful on bisquits and toast. Many people want it that way. Enjoy your channel very much. And love you cooking with your sweet Mom.

@@tammyrasmussen3878 water content shouldn’t be a factor if the honey is capped when harvested. I am sure there may be a variation but only slightly as the bees know at when it is dry enough to cap. One tip I would like to share is instead of putting your lighter into the grill ( oh my goodness you made me nervous LOL) to get it lit, there is usually a small hole on the side of your grill. My grill has it on the right side about the same level as where your burners are. It’s so much safer to put your lighter there instead of into the grill. Hope that made sense. Much love & blessings to you and your family.

You mentioned you were going camping as a big family. Years ago, before my daughters decided to run away from home to have families of their own, we loved camping as a family. One of the things my girls requested every time was taco/vegetable soup. We always, ALWAYS served it the day we were setting up camp as all the prep work was done before leaving home and the only thing needed to be done was open the cans and rip the packets of seasoning. After a long drive with children, who wants to wait for unloading, starting a fire and cooking? Our taco soup recipe is as follows for a family of 4 to five: 2 parts tomato sauce to 1 part chicken broth (veg broth works great as well) and 2 packet of taco seasoning. Bring to boil. For the ratio of wet, try to use equal size cans and adjust taco seasoning as needed. Obviously, if using the large cans of wet, you need more taco seasoning packets…adjust to your taste. I never mixed the fresh veggies for travel. Each one got their own bag. We love veggies so all the favorites got bought, chopped, and bagged. For serving, the broth stayed in the big pot with a ladle. We would use nacho chips, bacon bits, (or any meat of your choosing..bacon precooked and diced was easier to travel with), sliced black olives, corn, finely diced broccoli, black beans (rinsed), sour cream, green onions, tomatoes (I used pico as everything was inclusive), cheese, guacamole. Each side got their own bowl. When plating……bowling rather, take a hand full of nacho chips and crush them into your bowl. Then go down the line and add to the bowl any side you wanted, then top it with the cheese, sour cream, guacamole, . You can adjust the sides to whatever your family likes. Then top with the scalding broth which will blanch the sides. You still get the fresh crunch as the soup does not fully cook the veggies. The beauty of this soup is that the children feel they have control over what they are eating and will fill up on healthy things. They also get the fun of suggesting what to buy, slice and pack.

Here's a tried and true idea for grilling carrots: roast them whole like hot dogs. No need to peal them, just scrub well. You can roast them plain and serve with sauces, or brush a marinade on as you grill. With other veggies, just roast them whole too, or halfed if you must. Works for peppers, zucchini, onions, tomatoes, broccoli, cauliflower and even thick cabbage slices. It's less prep ahead, and so much easier when you ate grilling, to add them before your proteins or along them. When I was younger my dad used to roast on coals/wood, so the veggies always came first while we were waiting for the ambers to form

Put your honey in canning jars. Sometimes when I buy honey it is in a plastic container. I transfer the honey into the glass jars. When it hardens, set the jar in a small pan of water on the stove. On a low temperature it will soften. You can stir it to speed up the process. If you want to know how to preserve honey, call your County Cooperative Extension office which would be part of your State University System.
