Hi Becky, here's my french grandmere's french salad dressing. Use 1 teaspoon of Dijon mustard, mix in a half teaspoon ground sea salt add a couple of twists of ground black pepper. Next add 1 tablespoon of red wine vinegar, then add 2 tablespoons of the best olive oil. I make this in a jar which I shake until its an emulsion. Bon appetit! Hugs Anne in France x

I was visiting a girl in France with a friend of hers and she took us to a restaurant and we had, as a starter, a lettuce salad on a plate with this white looking dressing. Well it was one of the tastiest dressings ever, sorry lettuce with dressing. It was a white dressing. Do you think this was the the same dressing?
@annelord36857 ай бұрын
@@gaymccoll9309 A home made dressing that's white is often make using white wine vinegar instead of re wive vinegar and the all the ingredients are whisked with a hand whisk or electric whisk. And a pinch of sugar is added. Also there is a recipe using a little mayonnaise and adding a lot more oil and some water. Or there's also a type of green sauce made using only mustard and oil salt and pepper. Once it's all mixed, add lids of chopped parsley and chopped sorrel, this mostly used for fish. I am not from france, but I am French Canadian, and we often make homemade dressing with sour cream as well. I dont know if this is an old french recipe that made it's way to Canada many moons ago, but it is common here. It's very good. Sour cream, a little bit of milk, salt and pepper. Some add mustard to it as well. Yummy.

Made the BLT salad. I used a rotisserie chicken from Costco, it worked out to just about 6 cups of shredded chicken/Costco chicken. Because one of the people I was fixing this for, doesn’t tolerate onions well I used about half the amount of green onions/scallions and replaced the red onion with finely diced celery. It was a hit with both the onion and non onion lovers in the group.

Hi Becky. There is a lot of flavour that can be found in the cilantro stalks. If you just cut off the very ends, the stalks can be cut finely to add to your salads. Alternatively bag and freeze them until you have enough to chop into cilantro lime rice - or put them into processor with garlic and butter to top garlic bread. Another use is to process with lemon zest, seasoning, chilli flakes and butter to make a log of flavoured butter to top grilled chicken.

I went through a lot of the comments and I didn't see this so here...tip on Chicken. You can prep it the night or day before by putting it in a crock pot and even using frozen breasts. Frozen takes about 8 hours on low, or 4 hours on high depending on how much you cook. For easy shredding, right in the pot use a hand mixer and take the beater to it. Quick and easy without adding a lot of liquid to the chicken. I just let it cook in it's own juices but you can add seasoning right at the beginning and the flavor really gets into the chicken. It's pretty much the same as poaching but I find it easier when I need to do a lot of chicken or don't want to heat the house up in the summer by using the stove.
@ladybethspices5 ай бұрын
Please, please, never put frozen meat in a slow cooker!! Always defrost it first. My former housemate put frozen chicken in his crock pot and a few minutes later we hear this loud cracking sound. The entire ceramic crock exploded, shattering it and ruining the chicken and the crock pot. The booklets that come with the crockpot says not to put frozen food in crockpots, to always defrost them first.
