When our caves got to be so old I never had to shake up or spread a bale of straw. All nine spring calves would torment the bale with their heads and their kicking feet flying. It was nice of them to help spread the straw around evenly. Thanks for showing your part. Enjoyed it.

Love Kevin’s comments about we farmers. Livestock farmers have morning and evening chores every day. We don’t get days off or sick days. That is the way we were taught from our parents and that is the way of life we love. Merry Christmas and God Bless.

Love the simple explaination why Christmas was in the afternoon. Morning chores in the morning and night chores at night. Kind of frustrating how many people don't understand that farming is a job you do all the time, local farmer up here in Maine got a plaque from the state recognizing his accomplishment of milking cows every Christmas for 60 years in a row. On the one hand it's nice that the state recognized this, on the other it's kinda frustrating because I think the attitude of needing a plaque for that shows how out of touch average people are with what goes on everyday on a farm. My father is 77 and this was the first Christmas in over 60 years he didn't milk cows because the co-op we belonged to told us to our face not to build a new barn for our 80 cow farm and modernize so we could keep going because they didn't think there would be a market for milk from small farms long enough for us to pay for the barn. Farming is in a sorry state in this country, people don't want to see 10k+ cow farms but they also won't pay the $6 a gallon for milk that small farms need to survive. Keep up the good work all of you, I used to be able to say there are fewer and fewer of us out there and we need to stick together but now I just say there's fewer of you left and y'all are the unsung heros of this country.

Well…technically, if the fitting between the pressure valve and the cylinder blew out, the hydraulic oil would leak out of the cylinder letting the door down.
@lynwessel24712 күн бұрын
The lock valves are on the cylinders. They need full pressure applied to open. If the cylinders cant push oil out they cant go down. My Powerlift door just has restrictors at the cylinder ports so if something blew they would lower slowly. Lock valve cylinders is a good idea.

The shop door ought to be a split door like airplane hanger doors. So when the wind blows really hard, there is less wind resistance.
@lynwessel24713 күн бұрын
Its only 24 ft wide.
@underwaterdroneservices729220 сағат бұрын
A person thinks they think of everything and then someone has a better idea. That would be split in the centre horizontal like a hinge right? Then the lift would be straight up and way less leverage weight etc. Too late now but that seems like it would be better but also not as cool as this door. Also, the door could likely be opened much faster and less likely to hit something parked outside the door. I rented a house with the old style flip in/out solid door and it was shredded because it opened into a car. (It wasn't me.)

Growing up on the farm (Dairy and Beef cattle), I never fully understood about people having weekends and holidays off, because we had to work every day with no days off. Then, when I turned 18 and got out into the world and started working another job, I learned more about how the non-farming aspect worked. The light bulb went on, and I truly understood how farmers have to work every day to take care of their herds and equipment. I received your Christmas card and newsletter. Thank You. That was the first time I heard about you having a grandson. (Congratulations!!!) Hope we get to see him sometime soon. Looks like you had a nice feast for Christmas. Loved seeing the calves and their zoomies in the new bedding. Have a Happy New Year!!!
