I like to think that our dearly departed and all the dead, dematerialized and invisible, walk among us and can see and hear us.... What a touching and beautifuuuuul song .... which seems to come from very far away and from ancient times like often with your songs, dear Nancy !!! Love it !!!!!! 🪟 🐦😺🌹

You have a very good memory, Kat! I did this way back then (added some to the music recently) as Anabel's reply! I fell in love with that song when I heard a band called The Duhks sing it at Merlefest...and then yes, Dan shared his beautiful version, too! I started to mention it in the intro and maybe link Anabel, but thought I would just let it be its own song. So glad you liked it!

Oh gosh now I completely remember this!!!! Everytime I heard Gabriel I kept thinking this sounds familiar, a certain line kept making me wonder if it was one that you remade but my memory is not what it used to be so I really did think it was brand new! Lol! But I sure do love this catchy tune and beautiful song! I do remember now that it was your answer back. You refreshed my memory!

well, you certainly had me wrapped up in my thoughts over this one...such a beautiful song replete with soothing and hopeful images...you can't surpass "across the river and over the hill" as a bucolic paradise.... the line "freedom comes for everyone" kinda summarizes the delightful paradox for me....do we dance in great delight after our earthly woes melt away, or do we dance in great delight as our earthly woes melt away .... as you know i've recently lost a dear one, and i truly wonder as i frequently imagine him...is there a bike path across the river and over the hill....thanks for the beautiful tune.

I have had you on my mind lately, Michael, you and your father. I even mentioned you to my daughter last night. She studied at a flute camp in Lunenburg...I may have told you before...and I was actually talking to her about my extremely talented friend who lives there...whose very interesting father had passed on recently. I am thankful that you had such a sweet connection with this very special loved one for so many years. It must have been a great blessing and no doubt a very hard letting go. I hope you will share more about him. I am sure he would inspire a great many wonderful songs. Thank you Michael! It was so good to hear from you!

As my english is not perfect, I have to try to also 'feel'. For me 'over the hill' is maybe...about getting old, or older. Anyway , I enjoy this song very much: it's beautiful, deep.....and I am so happy to hear you sing: great song, Nancy: well done Big like 👍. As for 'age', I like this quote ' Age is an issue of mind and matter: if you don't mind, it doesn't matter'.
@nllleonard Жыл бұрын
Dear Joseph....thank you so much! I don't mind so it doesn't matter! 😉 (Great quote!) Your English is very good, friend! I sang about "passing over" and that is a figure of speech we use sometimes, meaning a person has died. So she is dead, but not gone. 🤔 Over the hill CAN indeed mean getting old, but here, I just meant that she is still nearby....keeping watch," from across a river and over the hill"... I'm so pleased that you liked my song and that you let me know. Thank you, Joseph!
@zepp2498 Жыл бұрын
Thank you Nancy for this explanation: Now I understand better. One day we will know...what is on the other side...yes, 'dead, but not gone'.

As ever Nancy, the lyrics are fine, and you've got a clarity on the vocal here , And, a confident , solid pick on the dulcimer.
