My family comes from that town We live now in New York It is very emotional to see this😢 Thanks for sharing your journey 🙏 ❤ (She is saying some things about the kahanim that are not completely true. They do not marry only upon themselves. They can marry any Jewish people)

Ya. They also aren't elites, in the English sense. Nowadays the Cohen status means next to nothing, and you're just a regular person in society.

My favorite book from my favorite Jewish artist and illustrator is, Gadi Pollack's "a House of Several Stories". The book basically follows the testimony of a house in one of the shtetels and what it witnessed during the war inside and outside its walls. All of the houses in this video remind me of the book.

@@FastEddieDice It's an illustrated book. Not sure if it's interesting. But thanks for the response.

What bothers me about the 1940s isn't only the amount of causalities, but it's the fact that a bunch of small old communities and cultures were obliterated. Centuries of heritage and unique customs lost. For God's sake, they almost ended an entire language. Yiddish is barely hanging on nowadays.
