No bro, clearly you missed the memo. This movie series is a movie trilogy but across the Spiderverse was originally going to be one movie but they turned it into a movie trilogy instead of just two movies. So Across The Spiderverse will actually be split up into two movies, only the third one will be called "Beyond" instead of across, however Beyond is really part 2 of Across and the third movie in the series. Across The Spiderverse is only part 1 of the part 2 finale, which means Beyond the spiderverse which will be the third one, will be Across The Spiderverse part 2.

Inspiration was definitely drawn from a bunch of different comic storylines, but this is a whole original story. None of us know what's gonna happen. Educated guesses at best. But they've done such a good job of riffing on the comic sources that even those educated guesses probably aren't very close. This is true creativity. Like you said "modern art".

This movie is overwhelmingly beautiful. And so sad at the same time. Made me think about losing my own dad when I was young. How it completely changed my life. I know it sounds really weird but that getting lost in a dark other universe thing.... just like being/feeling like an 'anomaly' wherever you are, I think I know what that feels like.

Good reaction! This film really tells the audience the concepts of Spider-Man and ask the question about saving one life or many calling back to Peter’s origin but showing that Miles can have his own destiny. The movies are loosely based on the comics as the events of the Spiderverse comics are different but still the same concept of comic book Peter teaming up with versions of himself & other spider people to save the multiverse. Miguel (2099) is a fan favorite character since his debut in the 90’s and is one of my favorite spider people. I know many who never read the comics might see him as a villain but he isn’t. He is trying to ensure no one suffers like he did and protecting the multiverse is his way of making up for his failure. He was also projecting his trauma/hatred of himself onto Miles because he sees a bit of himself in him and didn’t want Miles to face the same problem. In someways, he & Miles aren’t that different and it’s a meta commentary of one who wants to stay in the past while the other wants to move forward and that both Miles & Miguel were created to be successors to Peter. Just that while Miles had a loving family and people to support him, Miguel is a tragic character in the comics growing up with a abusive father, neglectful mom, living in a dystopian future ruled by corrupt system, & he gain his powers because the company he worked at were evil & tried to kill him so they eject him with Spider DNA which is why he has fangs, claws, & no spider sense. He looks up to Peter and Peter inspired him to understood the lesson of power and responsibility.

People consider Miguel a villain because they sympathize with Miles as the protagonist- his emotions, thoughts and the people he loves. However, what Miguel is trying to do is neither completely wrong nor is it coming from a place of malice. It is a classic example of the Trolley problem where he has made the choice to save a bunch of different lives instead of the one close to the respective spider people.

So far, this is the longest American feature-length animated movie ever made...and it didn't feel that way at all. Sorry Jen, the filmmakers haven't even started or just started animation for Beyond The Spider-Verse. The actors haven't even recorded their lines due to the actors strike. Since it took 4 years to animate the entire Spider-Verse chase after Miles, it's definitely gonna take time to make the conclusion right. I'd say at least until 2025 or 2026 maybe.

I remember in the mid 80's/ early 90's Marvel was trying to make several heroes "edgier," more violent. IIRC some readers didn''t like that direction, so they made the more violent Spiderman into a defective clone. I recall around 95-96 when DC and Marvel worked on crossovers. I recall a Judge Dredd vs Spiderman 2099 comic.

It’s more the actors strike since they can’t record their lines. Movie is written and more than half animated. An animator said in June that there was no way they were going to hit their deadlines for a March 2024 release due to Lord and Miller interfering with production and overriding the directors during AtS-V and making them change things after scenes had already been animated. Because of this, they started working on BtS-V nearly a year behind schedule.

That cliffhanger is great. I was in the theater looking at my watch thinking: "If they wrap this up in 5min, it will suck. It will be too rushed on the ending and it will be weak." So when I saw the "To Be Continued" (which was scheduled for March 2024 but has since been pushed back due to the SAG strike) I was totally fine with it since it means I will likely get another 90-140min film to enjoy and round out what is surely to be an amazing trilogy.

Spider-man 2099 Miguel can't really be called the villain more like the antagonist. He's had a whole world taken from him. He understands what's at stake. No it's not a simple decision for Miles and I'm sure they'll find another way. I love how they use the idea that the life of every spider-man across the multiverse has some kind of tragedy that makes them who they are. There's so much they did in this movie giving everyone a real reason behind their motivations and actions. It's not just black and white or hero and villain. Great movie and I'm excited to see where it goes

@@ayeb0ss But he doesn't know that it will destroy the universe. No one knows that. There's absolutely no reason to believe that. In the history of the world, lots and lots of uncles and fathers and police captains have died, and the universe was not destroyed as a result. Thanos destroyed the infinity stones, and the universe still kept on its merry way. And somehow Miguel thinks that one guy's death happening a few short years ahead of schedule or behind schedule has any significance for the entire universe? All these guys were going to die anyway, whether by being shot by a burglar or crushed by falling debris from a supervillain fight, or by natural causes. I know Miguel is a good guy in the comics, but he's a villain here. The movie is not the same as the comics. Hopefully, he will have some redemption in the third movie.

They have taken elements from the comics to make these movies, Miles origin didn’t quite happen this way as depicted in the first movie but I think this theatrical origin and story is much more interesting. All the multiverse connections, relationships, partnerships are unique to the movies for the most part. In the comics Miles is from Earth-1610 and is transported to the regular Earth-616 with the original Spider-Man and all the other comicbook characters. FYI, the MCU is set in Earth-199999, some theories are that this multiverse saga the MCU is in will transform into 616 once it’s over. But yes, there are some elements of the comics that hints as to what is going to happen in the next movie.
@jessecortez9449
@jessecortez9449 10 ай бұрын
I have a theory that the comics 616 universe will transform into the 199999 movie universe. Similar to how when the X-Men movies first came out, the comics emulated what was going on in the X-Men movies. The movies end up geared towards the broadest possible audience to sell more tickets which doesn't necessarily mean they're geared towards the source material fans. The comics are still so much more niche in comparison and sadly the popularity and buyership doesn't carry over. Really, both Marvel and DC, are struggling to sell their books, almost to the low point in the 90's when the industry was on the brink of bankruptcy. That's why both companies are pumping out books, shows and movies on their biggest cash cows of Spider-Man and Batman. It's the type of influence that goes back as far as the radio show for Superman where it created Kryptonite and then the comics copied it. So the comics are in such a need to stay afloat that the comics will become more like the movies.

The original Spider-Man 2099 run was amazing, but unfortunately it was cut short by the 90s comic book crash. Miguel O'Hara is a good character, but like in this film he's not the funny Spider-Man. He makes jokes, but they are very sarcastic. A product of his time. Not a bad choice for a leader for this interdimensional Spider army. I haven't been keeping up with the comics since the early 00's, but I don't think this is how the Spider-Verse was in the pages, though there are many things lifted from them. Anyway, I hope we will see the Japanese Supaidaman from the 70s. Peni Parker is cool, but you can't beat the sempai.

That reaction was simply beyond. Fangirl? Nope. Word too small. Been that way for many moons! Commander it is. JM in a band? Leaping Lizards!!! I’d pay good money to see a poster of that band!!! Venom? Oh Yes! I second that motion!!! Lego movies? Now that would be awesome. “Cause no matter what I do someone always thinks I’m blowing it.” Yes Commander...We’ve all been there. Bloody good show! I too did not expect the cliff hanger. My preference for Spiderman is animation. Kinda leaves the live action in the dust. Except for the first two McGuire Spideys which come a very close second. I can watch Miles and Gwen web sling all day. Bloody perfect chemistry! Great story and I’ll wait for part two when you upload many moons from now. Champagne wishes Commander and cheers!

Hobie is my favorite character in this movie… or at least new character. He is also a much more complex character than he initially portrays himself as. Also think about this. The spider was supposed to bite someone else according to Miguel so if it was a canon event the universe Miles ended up in was supposed to be destroyed but it isn’t. So are canon events real or is something else causing them and Miguel misinterpreting them? Because I feel he spouting a load of bull.

@@jenmurrayxo oh no, you're right. I didn't realize you were talking about the orchestral side of things. This movie also featured a soundtrack made by MetroBoomin and the other movie had another soundtrack made by various other artists so I thought you were talking about those. 10/10 reaction by the way

the soundtrack is different and I think Into The Spider-Verse was slightly better. But Daniel the original score composer did a better job with this film. He should at least get a Best Original Score Oscar nomination for it.

The Venom movies are only connected to Spider-Man by character name. They're fun but they have the loosest possible connection just so Sony can retain the rights and not hand them back to Marvel. They should be way more connected but studio money grabs get in the way.

I initially really disliked Spider-Gwen's world and how Spider-Punk was animated. After watching it a few more times, I like Spider-Punk more but Gwen's world still seems off to me. Like, not bad, but all the pink and blues make it seem like some polluted nightmare or something. I did love real life Prowler though in the jail cell.

Gwen's world is watercolor. Her comics series was, primarily, watercolor art style to reflect how fluid and soft her world and life was. It is a little much to see in motion on the big screen. A comparison in another film is with Robin Williams in What Dreams May Come wherein he dies and ends up in heaven and his concept of heaven is a watercolor landscape because that's what his wife always painted. An underrated film worth checking out. Spider-Punk is animated as a clip out of 1980's zines that pu k bands used to promote their bands. And he was animated at a slightly different frame rate expect for a few moments where he was emotionally connecting with Miles.
