I love how all of the multiple layers contribute to the spectacular end. I wasn't sure where this one was going but was along for the interesting textured journey. Definitely a fan of the final piece! Thx for always sharing your process a decision making along the way ❤

Hey Debbie! Funny, I just looked at this painting the other day and thought that I really like this style and that I wanted to create some more like this. What size do you normally paint?
@Debbiegibb6 ай бұрын
@@chrisloudart Happy Independence Day! I typically paint small 4”x4” up to 12”x12”. I’m doing some canvas painting (big switch from painting on paper) with collage and loving it. I enjoy your videos and the many techniques you share.

Happy Independence Day, Debbie! Those are great sizes! Yes, canvas and paper are quite different. I went from painting, typically, on 8"x10" -ish paper to 36"x48" canvas and it was quite a shock, but in a good way! Hopefully, I'll have my new recording set-up ready soon so I can do a video with a large canvas. Have a wonderful weekend!

Thanks for this full demo - I really like the tight, limited palette. You get great results from scraping back into the paint. I need to work on that.
@chrisloudart11 ай бұрын
Thanks Ann! I tend to do a lot of scraping. That all came from trying to fix a mistake on an earlier painting that gave me an unintended but really interesting result.❤️

It was such a suspenseful video... i had no idea where you were headed and the final reveal was fascinating Chris. I think this video is a perfect example of how abstract is a lot about spontaneous construction. Other thing is that since I have started watching your vids, i have been using fingers too... tomorrow, going to try a quick picture with just fingers and nails.
@chrisloudart Жыл бұрын
Well, I had a thought of where it might go, but I don't always know. Let me know how your finger painting goes. I've done a couple that were mostly done with my hands. It's a really fun way to paint!

This gives me some ideas. Would like to incorporate some mixed media, maybe some newspaper, in mine. "Crunchy Jacket"... love that title and the way found it.
@chrisloudart Жыл бұрын
Hey Luken! I'm fairly new to mixed media, but I can see how people get addicted to it. When I finished with this piece I took a look at the exposed newspaper and read a snippet about a marinade with garlic, pecans and cherry. I'm now so interested to find the rest of that article.

Hi Chris. Just came across your channel. Really inspiring! I’m curious- do you gesso you’re paper substrates before applying marks and paint?

Hey Karen! Thank you! Most of the time I don't gesso the paper that's in my sketchbook. I do gesso loose paper when I work on that.

How is it to make this large? I usually get a different result. What say u?

Most of the time I can get a similar result, however, sometimes it goes astray. In these situations I usually roll with it and see where the painting goes.

Oh, wow, those are both beautiful breeds of cat! Is your Maine coon mix pretty large? Our black and white cat, Reshiba, is quite picky about everything, but as of recent has become much more cuddly. Our black cat, Spooky, somewhat lives up to her name and can be quite moody. She has her sweet moments and her "don't even look at me" moments.

So., start with the whole area painted deep yellow orange.. Cover it with small squares of muted colour,. Add areas with white. covering some of the white with deep yellow,. Partially cover that with white. Add a few random colour daubs#.. Smudge the whole painting with a rag, not forgetting to leave a bit of yellow showing as an artistic statement. , Why go to all that bother. for such a result? I very much like some of your work. Sadly. too many artists do what you did here. SIGH

@@chrisloudart Thank you Chris. I must apologise for being brusque. I'm (slowly) recovering from a serious illness. At 76 years old, one doesn't bounce back very quickly. I'm a bit ratty. due to the pain. This is not an excuse, merely an explanation. I'm sorry.
