I’m sure you’ve had a lot of comments as to how to marbleize resin… resin+ acrylic is TEMPERMENTAL& rarely works- never cures right twice- so don’t feel badly!! The thing about acrylic is It’s plastic& the resin heats it without giving it air to dry as it cures-it has to release the liquid(water) elements of the acrylic paints more often than not… to get a perfect, 3D, layered marbling effect EVERY TIME- what you need to do is use colorants with various densities… as in uses mica powder for one thing, a nail polish color for another& a glittered alcohol dye mixture for another… I like using either a REALLY fine gold or white shimmer. Also using a PEARL WHITE mica powder in your base will ALWAYS yield results that emulate a bowling ball type marbling& is extremely 3D! It’s an easy cheat. You’ll notice on some alcohol dyes they will have heavy white/deeper white- vs. just white… that is identifying that the first white will fall to the front of your piece, and stand alone as a color more than the other, which tends to act more like a color highlighter in the background than adding white elements to your piece.

just a small thought on how you might salvage the ugly ones, use a holo nail polish then glossy top coat on them, let dry see how the look? Love your vids TC. 👍

I was actually thinking about gel nail acrylic. That stuff is supposed to be bullet proof!

What works for me... I mix the paint completely into the resin. Just a very small amount. Use it like a dye. Tint a couple of batches different colors and swirl the mixed resin into clear to create your marble effect right in the mold. If you don't mix the paint completely into the resin, it will not cure properly and you will end up with your first result.

I get what you are trying to do. SO...I have an idea, which I have just watched on a Terri Brush on line video I am taking. We are making bezels, and soldering shapes of hearts. She derided she wanted some fine glass glitter to fill the inside of her bezel. She poured a small amount of resin...ice resin..first.....into the bezel. Did not fill it up. She then waited a couple hours, and with that same resin, filled the bezel to the top. The resin was getting pretty think by then. But she placed her heart bezel into a dish with the German glass glitter, and let it cure. It looks marvelous. I was think that maybe you could do the same. Pour some resin into your cab mold. Let it set for awhile...then with the rest of the resin, mix some of your acrylic paints in. Then pour that onto of your first pour.. That would keep your paint from sinking..... Oh yes, and a different note. I have P.M.M.S. It stands for..... People make me sick! So, believe me ....when you say toxic people, are weird! ...I understand you loud and clear..... Happy Experimenting. Hope my idea works...♥

TC when I used to make resin things I used stain and not paint they have stain in all different colors try and find you some stain I used to paint ceramic figures I don't know if you have a store like that around you I don't anymore it was when I lived in California and you could get little bottles of different colored stains try that it will make a big difference I guarantee you I used to mix the resin and pour it over the figures and then pour a little bit of resin with the stain over it and it would look just like marble take care may the Goddess watch over you

Could you add a layer of resin in top of the ones you didnt like as much?
@MINERVARIOSmin_crafts9 жыл бұрын
How about pouring paint over the first layer of resin, swirl it ,let dry and then pour resin . maybe draw some veins first with marker or toothpick using one color, dry then add other color. crackle? tfs
@craftyfox19595 жыл бұрын
Why not pour a small amount of resin in first. Let that dry then put dots of paint use a tooth pick to swerl the paint then let the paint dry then pour more resin on top of the dried paint then let that dry

try an oil based paint
@angelaprayerpoems8 жыл бұрын
put less color in the resin and use a tooth pic to stir it for smaller marbling.

Probably more paint than resin plus the paint could be too thick or thin. Acrylic paint is neat when used with Resin but it is also a pain in the behind.
@meanauntrena46678 жыл бұрын
Remember, thicker acrylic paint compliments resin the same way that thick paint sticks to thin and vise versa.
