For years I have worked a lot with plywood and glued together pieces of thin chip board for my acrylic pours and sealing the surface right is a must. Usually I use a spray sealer for acrylic over the surface or a latex based paint. I use a gloss because it does allow the paint to slide easier, but I also pick up my pieces to shift them. Matte and satin work well too. You also need at least 2-3 coats of anything you use, especially gesso, since the gesso will wick into the wood. Hope this helps.

As you said, you must seal it well before pouring. 2-3 coats of gesso should do it. I also see that your paint crazed because it was laid too thick and mixed a bit too thick as well. Once you finish pouring, tilt it to run some of the paint off and you'll also cover the sides at the same time. A glitter top coat would really make this baby stand out!

I think it's awesome and I wouldn't care if it's got the bubble or the imperfections. You might not can sell it that way but you can sure put it out in your yard or something for the 4th of July I think it's beautiful.

You should do a resin with silver or white iridescent glitter pour on top to give it a high shine and sparkle! Either way...it looks awesome!

You are right, Terri! It's perfect for resin! I think you have to seal it really well if you are using it with something waterbased. I see some MDF in my future!

Awesome job! I did not even notice the flaw until you pointed it out! You know those red, white, and blue ribbons? Perhaps, you could obtain one of those and glue it over the flaw? You are so creative! Keep up the great work!

Oh man that star is so cute. I do NOT like it when you put so much work into something and it messes up. I run into wood problems if there are knots in the wood. It breaks my saw blades.
