Your painting of the rose is beautiful, you made it look so easy, however it was the detail you added that makes it look so real.!!

I've been playing around and varying the intensity of my white. I'll pour the same amount of medium in three cups, and add differing amounts of white. The different intensities do different things. White is heavy, so it usually sinks to the bottom, but less white in the medium will stay on top. I'll use straight pouring medium as part of a dirty pour. The medium dries transparent and adds depth. The different whites and the transparent medium make people really look at a piece, and the longer they look the more they discover. Kinds makes them slow down a little and really live in the moment.

Great information and glad you are doing some tests! I have been playing with transparency, too. Hope to have more info later.

"Don't be a victim." That is a loaded statement, which I believe is at the heart of many hang ups with art. You as the artist(meaning me) need to explore, play and capture what interests you in all aspects of the painting: composition, form, color, size... I love that you are giving me a heads up with what you do to get your results, so I have the basic concept of supplies and mixing to begin my journey with a leg up. Money, cost of supplies are an issue for most artist. Finding new sources close to home that make quality supplies is a bonus. The more I play, the more I find value in the basics: toothpicks, craft/popsicle sticks, straws, bottle caps, and cardboard from used boxes. So I would add; experiment, explore, exercises creativity by trying a new way/s, and have fun. That makes being an artist, and doing art work, a freeing experience as well as an outlet for expressing and connecting with our emotion/s while letting our mind create something unique from our being/soul. Thank you for the experience of spending time in your studio.

Amazing Caren, I've already followed you and please I need a video where you describe acrylic paints and fluids also how long will a canvas take to fully dry? Thanks alot, Rehab
@angelsandfaes7 жыл бұрын
A tip. If you take a piece of, say a 4inch by 4 inch, cardstock and fold it in half then pour a bit of the paint into the fold, you can then tip it a little and use it somewhat like pen to draw more defined lines. you control the width of the line by how much you tip.
@carengoodrich7 жыл бұрын

This is really pretty. You mentioned you could let it dry and then add more white to the negative space. Have you ever done that and gotten any cracks/crazing in the negative space?
@carengoodrich7 жыл бұрын
Bernice Foster I have not done that but I see no reason why the additional white would crack or craze.
@bernicefoster21227 жыл бұрын
Me either, but I had one do that. I suspect it might be that I didn't get all the silicone off the lower layer, or maybe my ratios were off. I actually like the cracking but .. *lol* I'm weird.

Hello, I am new to pouring etc... this was so informative and inspirational... one question... what do you do with all the paint underneath that has dripped off the edges, do you do other art pieces with the paint down there on the drop sheet?

What brand of PM do you use? I saw a video where an artist used the Novaplex 235 instead of Liquitex....I wanted to try it, but for the life of me, I cannot figure out their website!!! lol

I am lucky enough to buy my paint there in person. I use 233 but 235 is fine, too.
@chelle7_myblueeyeddog7 жыл бұрын
Do you mix your own paint colors? Just starting out and thought I would just get primary, black and white and mix my own. Would you recommend it or is it better to just buy the colors you want?
@carengoodrich7 жыл бұрын
Chelle 7 I do some mixing but not always. By all means mix your own colors if you want to! It's a great idea, you will come up with your own color preferences, but so many people don't have the patience!
@hmax15917 жыл бұрын
nice technique. Why can't you just wait for the "rose" to dry before adding the white and so on with the stem and leaves?
@carengoodrich7 жыл бұрын
You can let it dry and I have done many paintings that way. But this demo was about having fun in the wet paint. Doing wet-on-wet is different, challenging, and gives you a chance to push the paint around more.
