There are many pouring medium and even more opinions. this is my view and my favourite options as well as mixing my own Pouring medium. every paint has its own thickness and therefore needs to be thinned down to the right consistency different. this shows the ratios with the paint I have. some people use water only. you can do that for playing around but I don't advise that. you're breaking up the pigments using to much water.

Hi. My name is Santana Hagedorn ans artist for acrylic paint pouring and fluid art from the Netherlands. This form of abstract and modern decorative painting is done with Acrylics brought to the right consistency with various pouring mediums, oils and additives. By moving the paint layers, playing with different tools or adding heat I create different effects. Very messy and very fun. The Paintings can be don't know canvas, MDF frames, tiles or other flat surfaces. Can also be used to make daily items and gifts unique f.ex. little boxes or ornaments.
If you like my art and would like to purchase or custom order feel free to contact me via comment, email, Facebook or Instagram

My own pouring medium is not cheep with all the ingredients but I still had them. As soon as they are empty I will not add the ready-sold pm. The gloss is not a expensive medium but a very cheap Varnish from our dollar store. You can play around and find your right ratio. I would use floetrol and PVAc 3:1 eventually

i'm assuming because it contains pva and floetrol it wouldn't be archival then?

+a. Jones Digital I use PVAc. That's archival. It's bookbinder's glue. And floetrol is archival too as far as I know

Thank you for taking the time to create this instructive and informational video. It answers a lot of questions I am sure many have had. Seeing the mixing up close provides a nice picture of how the mixing parts look prior to actually being mixed and finally the cohesion of them together. Nice touch. Thank you again Santana -

A lot learnt from Annemarie Ridderhoff I see here....yet no mention of her help? Most paint has binder in it and there is such a thing as over binding pigments....the binder is not needed unless you are adding lots of water. Cheers

Don't know where you live. I got it from Amazon but it's not available everywhere. It really doesn't matter so much as long as you get the paint to the right concistency

The PVAc is archival. Means it could last for 100 years, or at least more than 50, but some PVA, like Elmers Glueall, can last a very long time too.

+Cielo Falcon +Cielo Falcon PVA is transparent Waterbased glue for example schoolglue. PVAc is bookbinder's glue. If you don't have floetrol you can use that. There are also ready made Pouring mediums like f.ex from liquitex. These are all individual options

Floeterol can be found in most hardware or paint stores; paint thinner!

It's not a thinner. It's a additive and conditioner. Just saying for the purpose of terminology

Why do you add the gloss into your pouring medium? I mean, what is the purpose? I’m just wondering as I haven’t seen this added into any PM before.
@PouringArtExperience
@PouringArtExperience 6 жыл бұрын
+Amanda Hudnall it's just a personal mixture. I add it as a counter balance to the floetrol which has a more dulling effects. But I also still had it and when empty it's not something I would urgently buy extra. Varnishing with gloss is sufficient for me tok

What's the purpose of doing all these steps, instead of just mixing your paint with a medium to get the consistency you want? I'm personally just getting into using resin as a pouring medium... If you do it in layers with different opaqueness paint, you can make it look like marble and other glass-like substances.
@PouringArtExperience
@PouringArtExperience 6 жыл бұрын
+Amber Van Zitamore I'm introducing 3 Pouring medium that work fine but are not on the price class as ready-sold pouring medium from for example golden or liquitex. And even with these pouring mediums you will need some water for the consistency needed. I'm familiar with resin but it's also a entirely different process.
@jdmosaics

Very interesting but you ended up with a PM that you need to buy all types of products for. Economically this is prohibitive to anyone doing huge amount of paintings. Liquitex Pouring Medium and paint will do what you need. This is what it was designed for...Pouring. The only reason most people are making their own is to not have to buy these expensive Artist grade mediums, hence people using hardware products that are cheaper like the gallon of Floetrol. Anyone worried about putting water in Acrylic paint has to go back and read what the manufacturers say about their products. Most Artist quality paint have good quality polymers/resins in them and can have up to 30% water added without breaking any binders down.
