I'm going to show you my acrylic pouring canvas prep process. First, I always tape the back of my canvas. It provides a much cleaner look. Second, I use an awl to create pilot holes that I screw cup hooks into.
My favorite cup hooks have a rubber coating on them. The cup hooks are great because you can easily adjust them to level your canvas.
Here's the Amazon link if you want to check out my favorite cup hooks:

Here's the Amazon link to the giant pushpins I use:

As large push pins are kind of hard to find at my location I did not think of using hook screws. Have all these tools at home, just didn't think of them. Thanks!

Great tips Brad. I used to use cheap masking tape but found it didn't do the job and bled underneath. I now use a more expensive painters tape and it's worth the extra expense. I also use ordinary push pins but will try cup hooks or find those large push pins. I thoroughly enjoy your tips. You certainly help beginners like myself. Happy pouring 🎨👍

The more expensive painters tape definitely creates a cleaner tape line. I don't mind the slight bleed under with the cheap stuff. But I hate the giant mess that was created when I didn't use any tape. I think you would like using the cup hooks. They take a bit longer to install but well worth it in my opinion. I found the giant push pins on Amazon. I didn't put a link ther because the listing is always changing. The perfect canvas foot would be a giant push pin with a threaded point! Did I just create a product Laurita?

Another great tips video! Thanks 👍 I’ve used drawer handles screwed in with cup hooks for a really big handle on either 2 or all 4 sides before. I’m always messing up edges with fingerprints. It also helps me figure out original orientation since being level is so important 🙃

@@TampaBMan Yes, 18x24 is pretty much my maximum for tilting by hand. I've done some 24x30's but it's tricky. I invented a tilting table for larger pieces. I'll share that with you in the future...

I thought this might include gesso techniques. I’m adding more gesso so there’s no canvas texture showing through the paint. Just wondered how other people do it.
