@@gillykubeart Hi Gilly! Just a quick update on very first experiment. I did my first "micro pour"! On a 7X11cm piece of scrap, Gessoed wine cask cardboard!! How very BOGAN of me!! 😂 Started with just pouring coin-ish sized, various 4 coloured circles allowing the paint to intermingle, blowing, etc. Then tilted and played for a while. I had some cell effect in black under white with nothing added to make it. I thought maybe air bubbles or the paint sinking through/floating? Finally I decided to do a small, central, swipe area with white over my so many dark colours! Well, my goodness! Colour me tickled! (Pink!). I used the lighter card from opening my gloves box as my swipe tool. It has slight perforations. Perfect. Gave it a little wiggle as I swiped. It revealed a lady standing there... So clearly, it could be an old b&W photo!! As well as some other things. I didn't add anything at this stage for cells. Just to be getting a feel for it. I'll be doing more as I only used a tiny amount of my mixed paints. I also have 4 pearl powders (cheap on wish) that "match" my 4 paint colours. They'll be fun to add to a couple as I make a few extra shades out of my colours. Thankyou so much, Gilly!! Oh, I think I already have a little tip for you, too! And to pass on to others. Beginners especially, I guess. I found a 5ml syringe, a 1ml and a .5ml. no sharp, pointy bit, just the syringes (any chemist has some). They were here from various critters and such. As I was working with tiny amounts and carefully, I thought for adding water... 5ml syringe was perfect to add .5/1ml at a time. I was after control not accuracy, but you get that too. I think the .5 or 1ml, would give you better control with the silicon specifically. The .5ml would deliver even sized, tiny drops, 1ml, bigger drops, etc. on up. Always will be even, too. You may want 20's and other larger ones because you're using more paint than me, but I think it's a very useful control tool. Hope that's of some use to you!! I had fun on such a tiny scale! (I have cataracts, so at that size, it was real fun, actually!) Truly, I'm rapt! Especially that I came across you, too. Your voice is very soothing to me and with the paint literally flowing, the experience of watching your videos IS very relaxing... Calming. (ie. I'm a stress-head, you help!) Thanks again. See you soon. I'm unable to comment on other vids. At least until I can see someone else's. That's how I can reply on here. I can't work out where to start another comment, but thought I'd reply here for you!! So much fun waiting for me, now... ☮️💜🌈 👩🎨🎨🖌️ How come I have to live my life with "Champagne tastes on a can't really afford a beer" budget??

@@gillykubeart I can see the addiction coming as I'm collecting all my bits n pieces ready to at least start wasting a little paint on cardboard to get used to the feel of the paint flow, etc., before I use my FIRST EVER canvas. For anything! Ever!! 🤔 😉 🙂 I'm a writer! I'm definitely NOT a "visual" artist... Lol. Watching tutorials and just pours in general, I can see a lot of talent, but I can also see that it's in colour combination choices, a bit of knowledge from those kind enough to share for the sake of knowledge and love of their passion, also, seemingly quite often, blind luck is involved! With your help Gilly, and others free on KZbin, I actually feel confident that I can at least have fun and make some cheap, lightweight gifts! As I'm on a tight budget and my family are all over the country (Australia) so postage is often the issue. You can buy cheap, lightweight canvases 10mins walk from my house. Also paints, from poster paint up to half decent acrylics, all the basics most things require are there. It's like an expensive $2 shop, I guess. Small town=limited choice and wait for online order. Grrr. 😒 I hope you and yours had a wonderful Christmas season and have a safe, love filled and happy New Year!! Again, thankyou so much. I'm really getting excited now!! 🙆 ✌️💜🌈

@@gillykubeart I'm about to start mixing my small amounts just for testing on cardboard. I'm a natural night owl, so I COULD be painting in 8 hrs or so... I'll probably leave it for tomorrow now. New Year, new craft, new talent🤞🤞 might be discovered and all!! I'm using your PVA glue and water (3:1 ratio by eye. Logic told me to get it to about the "won't hold a figure 8" pouring cream type consistency of your cup mixed paints) recipe with white glue as the "Floetrol" component and Mont Marte titanium white, lamp black, phthalo blue, (75ml @$2ea) and I splurged on a purple (MUST have!!) Semi matte, 100ml@$3.99. I found I can get 200ml poster paints for $6-8 locally. I may do a swipe or two later once I'm happy that I've learned something about mix and flow. IF I was to add anything else, probably next time, alcohol and/or alcohol inks, or dish liquid would be my first trials. I also have some purple pearl Powder from WISH. I love that you take the time to respond to people's comments! I won't expect you to answer me all the time, because basically, this is all thanks to you, so I WILL keep you updated! I'd love to be able to share my art with you, (your Facebook I assume? I still have to check that out!) once I've achieved something that I'm actually proud enough to approach a professional with. Even just not too embarrassed to, will do me!! I see it as a courtesy to you, my teacher. I have other tutors, but you're my true actual teacher, I guess. I liked your calm voice and how relaxed you are, then, finding out that you're Australian was such a bonus!! Also why you seemed so calm. It's the Aussie way to be just that bit more chilled. Especially in Queensland! Thankyou again. I'm off to mix acrylic paints or I'll never get to my first pour!! Then maybe, do a first attempt at alcohol ink work! I made, the inks (3 primary colours and a beautiful purple!) so am going to start on an old, opshop frosted glass vase. Should be perfect!! Wish me luck!! ✌️💜🌈

Thanks for making this video, at least I know I’m going in the right direction with the dollar store . @Irret4 жыл бұрын
Hi Jo. I love cats, too. 😻🐾🐈🐱 There ARE ways to _rescue" the runoff and reuse a lot of the paint. I've seen one guy do an "End of Day" dirty pour. Or two! Great idea! Looked good, too. Not as muddy as I thought. I'm sure, if collected in a tray or such, you could play with the paints a little, rearrange them a little, or just leave it alone, then carefully press a canvas into it, rub gently and evenly on the back to coat well, lifting straight up, (I'd assume?) stamp style. I haven't tried, but I've seen similar things done. I've watched a LOT of different tutorials!! Price nearly put me off. So by finding ways to DIY the other necessities so I can even afford to enjoy this, therefore the waste was a BIG issue to me. Like I said though, watch enough people just doing a pour or people like the wonderful Gilly sharing a lot of knowledge, regularly and often and you will see and have, a lot of ideas. I just thought of the "stamp" idea from something I saw used to get a certain effect and realised it could also be used to save on "wasted" paint. Also, I haven't searched specifically for "less wasteful ways to acrylic pour" or such. Yet. Good luck! ✌️💜🌈
@Irret4 жыл бұрын
Hey, Jo, it was our fearless Leader, Gilly who'd posted a video using crinkled foil as the "dipping tray"! My idea developed from a memory of watching that! Lol. There are definitely ways of having less waste or more useful leftovers. Either way works for me. 😊
@suestoons4 жыл бұрын
Hi Jo, I'm also not fond of the waste but we had a little play with some older paints. We lined our 'pour area' with copy paper, my crafting buddy took the papers when we were finished and made some amazing cards with them by die cutting and punching the dried pour offs. After watching a lot of Gilly's content in the past few days, the next time we do some pours I'm gonna try some swipes on the left-overs. We do our pours over rocks, not canvases, for our rock art and you can't really swipe on the rocks but on the papers lined with drips and puddles I'm gonna play. Come to think of it, I could put a couple canvas boards down as well as paper ... hmmm. Food for thought.

Gilly I always wander what the little bits of wood are for that come with the canvases. I have already started pouring but just came across your beginners video which I wish I had seen before I started. Great video nice and easy so I am going back to basics. Thanks for your lovly tuition Julie Uk

your videos are so beginner friendly and easy to follow. thank you so much, from someone with Autism easy tutorials are hard to find. I have a question though, I'm a resin artist so I have SOOOOO many different types of colour pigments, my question is.... do you have any tutorials in how to mix mica powders and resin pigments@@@

Georgia if you're in Australia, the canvases are already Gessoed so no need to worry about that

Brilliant tutorial! Thank you. I have a question, do you happen to know what is the silicone oil equivalent I can get in Europe, I am in Spain but I can probably get it in the UK, do you know?

Do you use tap water or distilled water and would you have your pouring medium the glue and water the consistency of warm honey?
