Acrylic pouring & fluid art:
There are many recipe out there and almost mystical believe of what it is doing. It should hold your pigment connection while thinning the paint down with water. There are some things to consider though picking your Pouring medium. Ready made from the shelf is the most expensive. Floetrol is somewhere in the middle but additional to having a little binders it's also a conditioner to get a creamy and more fluid concistency, Glue is the cheapest and a strong binder and also allows you to get the most volume out of paint as you can add quite a lot of water until it reaches the right concistency.
So all works fine. Make yourself your own opinion.
My favourite is 1:1 glue & floetrol as pouring medium mixed with 1 part paint
It's all about the magic
Over the artist:
Hi. I'm an artist for acrylic paint pouring and fluid art from the Netherlands. This form of abstract and modern decorative painting is done with Acrylics brought to the right consistency with various pouring mediums, oils and additives. By moving the paint layers, playing with different tools or adding heat I create different effects. Very messy and very fun. The Paintings can be don't know canvas, MDF frames, tiles or other flat surfaces. Can also be used to make daily items and gifts unique f.ex. little boxes or ornaments.

In order to maintain color mix the glue with the water first. Add that mixture to the paint in order to keep the vibrant color

If the glue is too thick, the texture dries uneven and the colors get stuck. If it's too fluid, the texture is perfect, but the colors combine with each other. If you combine diluted cups with thick preparatuions cups, it creates better effect on the canvas but the texture will pay uneven. The glue gets a bit disolved when dry so the color remains. If the color measurement is thin, it can dry empty. If the color concentration is increased, you have consistency after the drying process. Drying is problematic. You can make it more diluted but only with more color that dries the glue and stabilize faster. If it's too fluid, however, it fragments the paint because of the layer of water. But you can get the right measurements. It helps if the prepared cup is left hermetic overnight to homogenize. Use sylicone oil just before you apply, because it acts against the glue. You have more control with glue than those expensive mediums, and can get the same results because you can apply gloss afterwords..

Hello from Alaska. Started pouring about 1 months ago I painted when I was a child and in high school and stopped when I had children it all with oil painted Landscape but I thought this looks awesome. so i try it , started with some of the videos that was useing glue mediums and so I bought the fluid art painting until I understood and learned how to do that I did realize it floetrol I tend to make my paint a little bit thinner because I'm used to working with glue and therefore i prefer using the medium with glue I seem to have more control of my paint I think is the best way to go if anybody in this comment thank you so much for being there for us

Thank you so much I am learning a lot as I work my way through your videos. I have been pouring now for about three months and about 50 canvases. I am still struggling. Partly because my paint is too thick and very possibly because I use some house paint. I get the house paint for free from a recycle depot. But even when I try the craft paint my results have not always been that good. Sometimes I will get a good result from the house paint. Also I have run out of floetrol, also found it for free at the recycle depot. But I am not giving up I will soldier on. Thanks again for your very informative videos. I am a real fan.

Happy you like it and that it helps you understand the background. Housepaint can be tricky. The stuff in Europe that we wallpaint doesn't work. In the US seems to be different stuff. If you don't have floetrol use glue. But no matter what you use. Absolutely key factor is concistency. And you can do pour over pours you don't like as long as they are fully current 3-4 weeks

@PouringArtExperience

No it's not important. The water will be caught in the acrylic anyways what is like plastic. Only time I would do it is if you want to keep water at your workspace for a while or you premix paint that you want to keep. Then it's just to be safe. Cooking it is fine.

Floetrol is whitish. When its dry colour should be normal. But on a Budget i think glue is less eypensive and to use just 30% to painz is sufficient

If so, what should i do before painting anything that i plan to sell. Is there any particular paint i need to buy and any particular varnish i need to use? Also where can i seel my paints and how?
@PouringArtExperience
@PouringArtExperience 5 жыл бұрын
First thanks for the compliment. Appreciate! If you want to sell first think what surface m canvas cheapest also normally don't look that great. Also the deeper one look better I think. Then your pouring medium should be archival. Paint can be whatever you like. Always make sure to provide all the information to the buyer ( for example gallery wrapped canvas grade 2, studio quality paint). Varnish I would wait until you know what the customer wants. Perhaps just spray protection or normal one or resin. Hope that helps

That's not correct. I said 30% to paint is sufficient while I here used 50%. Then you need to achieve the right concistency with water. There is no measurements aside from that that anyone can give you as concistency of any brand of paint is different

30% to paint? What does that mean? 30% glue and 70% paint or 30% glue and (how much) water to 100% paint ? I'm confused...:(. Not very helpful.
