Have never seen the skins used for application to glass. Marvelous delink! Thanks for the inspiration.

+katica bogar The first layer in the video is white acrylic paint, but you could also use a gloss medium to create a transparent appearance. While you can use white glue, it can sometimes not be as flexible and made be more difficult to remove from the freezer paper.

No need to treat the "skins" with anything once they are dry. The acrylic paint can be used as a glue to adhere the shingles onto a matboard or canvas. If you'd like more detail on the process or have further questions, our Blick Product Information department can help! Please contact them by calling toll free 1-800-933-2546 or email at info @ dickblick . com. Thanks for watching!

If the 'skin' is able to stick to glass or other 'skins', how do you keep it from sticking to pieces intended for a bracelet (as shown). Do you treat it with another medium in order for this not to occur? In the 'Acrylic Shingle'...how do the 'skins' stick to the canvas/matte board...glue? What kind? What is used to adhere the 'skin' in creating a necklace that has layered 'skins'? Thank you for you answers....really am excited to try this!!!!!!!!!!

I thin the paint with fluid medium so I get a thinner skin, flow it on rather than spackle it on. If it is thinner you can make a marbled effect.

The finished beads seem hard and don't seem to stick to each other. How did you get them to harden?

If you want to use a stiffener on the skin pieces would that work? Does water damage the skins? Thanks
@Blick_Art
@Blick_Art 7 жыл бұрын
+Patricia Schwab Yes, you can make the skin thicker, which will make them stiffer, or you could add a little modeling paste. If you decide to stiffen the skins though, make sure to use a flexible surface when creating the skin (either baking paper, silicone mat, or something else that will easily peel away from the skin). We would not recommend creating stiff acrylic skins on something rigid like the palette as it will be difficult to pull off without tearing or breaking the skin. If you have additional questions, you can reach Blick Product Information at 1-800-933-2542 or info@dickblick.com. Thanks!

Can a fan or hairdryer or being placed in the sun be used to speed up the process?
@Blick_Art
@Blick_Art 9 жыл бұрын
+Arcia French Too much heat could cause unpredictable or uneven drying, but using a fan would be fine. For any additional questions, you can reach Blick Product Information at 1-800-933-2542 or info@dickblick.com. Thanks!

Do you bake the pieces to make beads?
@Blick_Art
@Blick_Art 10 жыл бұрын
It is not recommended to bake the acrylic paint or acrylic film. To make the beads shown in the video, they are simply cut from the larger acrylic skin. You can also roll the skin to create barrel or round beads. The rolled beads will need to be secured with either more polymer glaze or white glue. If you would like additional assistance, please feel welcome to contact our Product Information team at 1-800-933-2542

a couple people asked but did not get a response... HOW TO YOU MAKE THE BEADS!
@Blick_Art
@Blick_Art 7 жыл бұрын
There’s a few ways to make it a bead. First, you’ll want to start by cutting the shape you want from the acrylic skin. Next, use one of these methods to create a bead: Use a needle and thread/embroidery floss to pierce the skin and stitch it to a cloth or crochet jewelry base. Take a jump ring, open it enough to accommodate the thickness of the bead, then clamp it down into the skin with a pair of needle nose pliers. Take a small piece of sturdy jewelry wire (18-20 gauge), pierce the bead with one end of the wire, wrap it around itself and clamp the end with a pair of needle nose pliers Hope this helps!
