The eccentric flaring tool creates a better flare, and seals better for systems using refrigerant that operates at higher pressures than the old standard r22 Freon. Recommended for mini split A/C units. The tool works well, and is not very expensive. It's a good investment.

Been using a Standard Flare block for 43 Years ! No Problems with Making Flares ! Biggest Problem i've seen in my over 40 Years of Making Flares is people using a SHORT FLARE NUT ! it provides Zero support for the copper tubing & the Flared Location. i ONLY USE a LONG FLARE NUT ! it Supports the flare & the copper tubing. Flares are a Terrible way to connect a HIGH PRESSURE LIQUID LINE anyhow ! Brazing the Line is the only way to go !!! Avoid Flares at all cost if Possible!

Why do minisplits use flares?
@TheDroppedAnchorАй бұрын
I learned to flare in 1973 with the short nuts. When I discovered the long variety my success rate went to 100%. I last flared on an automated combustion system install on an ancient boiler-powered ship. Maybe nowadays the young adults aren’t being taught correctly and must use expensive gadgets. IDK.

@@thomato0981maybe because I could flare when I was 18. Wasn’t until I was 20 before I could braze.

@@thomato0981 Less Risk for Manufacturer. if it was a sweat joint People would possibly overheat the Valve & or Not use nitrogen when Brazing creating oxidation inside the pipe possibly causing trouble for the system.

It really depends on the tool and the operator for sure so if you have great flare faces, keep doing what you are doing!!!
