I remember the first time I ran in to one of these on a package unit. Not gonna lie I tried to remove the core. Kept turning and turning 😂. Thanks for the video.

Great video as always, personally not a fan of these fittings. I haven’t had an employer willing to put these core removers in the van and it doesn’t make my life easier enough to warrant my own money. They either get a flared tee fitting or cut out and replaced by a slip fitting with a schraeder, if the system is open. I’m already invested in high-flow recovery hoses and schraeder core removers as I was taught this was the way and not to pull vacuum thru the gauges.

I think it would be very important to show the bleeding process as well. I see a lot of people in the field skip that part. We don't want to introduce contaminants into the system.

The price of that core removal tool is hilarious. The annual sales must be in the double digits.

Sucks I can’t use any or my bigger size hoses. I don’t have core depressors in them. I asked carrier and they said just use your gages.
@sethsturtevant9082Ай бұрын
Get an appion core control tool, it acts as a depressor and gives good control.
@throttlebottle5906Ай бұрын
you may be able to add core depressors as other option.

What your best recommendation on an old R22 valve core seat damaged? Cannot put new valve core without big leak, now using security caps which seem to seal good vs brass caps. thank you
@ABCJKEАй бұрын
I ran into something similar about 15 years ago. Trane type unit that someone torqued down the acorn cap so hard it bent in the top of valve seat so Schrader valve would not come out. 1) either leave it the way it is if holding or 2) remove the refrigerant, braze in new stem and seat, pinch off old stem near the top and cut it off and braze it closed. Hope this helps.

Problem I have is this CoreMax 'hot tap core remover' is much larger than the tool used on traditional schrader cores. Carrier small package units have used these for years now BUT THEY DON'T ANGLE THE ACCESS PORT TO ALLOW using the large 'hot tap tool' in tight compressor sections!!!
@jasonjohnsonHVACАй бұрын
I do not like coremax fittings. If they are leaking. I put a swivel tee on them unless im recovering. Then i will replace it. They do allow for better flow over a Schrader. That tool used to cost like $175 many years ago.....the price of it nowadays is ridiculous.

Don’t forget that these fittings are to be tightened/ torqued to 6 ft. Lbs.

Were do you get the torque wrench from?
@Shawn_RHVACАй бұрын
@ ordered mine thru Hoffman supply. It’s pre set for 6# but honestly a snug tightness is usually enough. Lot of guys over tighten and they are ridiculously hard to remove with the core tool. I only paid 100$ or so for my core tool. Believe 75 to be exact also thru Hoffman Supply or even Johnstone supply

That little o-ring seal is going to do a wonder on the coil distributors when it comes off Just another example of more overpriced crap someone is trying to force you into buying

Should have eased off slow at first. Closed the valve and then cracked it to make sure. Suspect info here....

That COREMAX CORE REMOVAL COST cost $600. I am not gonna buy it. When it leaks I just use a cap that comes with flare inside, and stop the leak really well sir.
@IceWhiteice22Ай бұрын
It really don’t make much sense to charge that much for that tool.
@timothy5977Ай бұрын
All AC tools cost too much!! I mostly buy used/eBay because it's just to f'n expensive, and after it breaks, I can buy another one off eBay, still cheaper than one in the warehouse
@mackenziegray2090Ай бұрын
I change these things out everytime I need to recover refrigerant. They leak fairly commonly.
@cesarmoore7996Ай бұрын
$600 can easily be made back in 2 service calls and it will save you time in the long run. However your method works too, even though its just a bandaid kind of fix
@666miguel99Ай бұрын
If ever you're in a situation where a system is empty. Do everyone a favor and install regular valves, always remove these "max core valves".

A schrader on steroids. But another tool to carry for a tech.
@CSSforever220 күн бұрын
A $600 tool. Coremax should be banned.
@jackshelАй бұрын
Don't like them. Several times put gauges on and the pin would not depress, thinking the system has no pressure. That pin has a lot of wiggle in it and the pin fails to depress. Would never purchase the tool. Too expensive.
@qsm1334Ай бұрын
Damn I was expecting like 150-200 dollars when you said expensive not 500🥲
