"Ikanaide" (いかないで) is a Japanese song by Sohta, also known as Hosome. The song was initially uploaded to the Japanese video-sharing platform, Niconico, in 2014 and later to KZbin. "Ikanaide" gained popularity among Japanese music enthusiasts and has since been covered by various artists, both amateur and professional. The song is known for its emotional and heartfelt lyrics, which roughly translate to "Don't Go" in English. It tells the story of a person trying to cope with feelings of separation and longing for someone dear to them. The melancholic yet beautiful melody has resonated with many listeners, making "Ikanaide" a beloved song in the Japanese music community.
----------------------------------
Hey everyone! I'm super excited to share my first time reaction to Dimash Kudaibergen's rendition of the emotional Japanese song "Ikanaide." Most people wait for Dimash to belt and go high yet very few marvel at how difficult it is to sing as breathy and airy as Dimash is here.... it is magnificent!!!!! ☮️❤️Sea Point, Cape Town

So true. Those low, breathy almost whispers is what makes it more intimate and truly pierce your heart. And keeping notes out there in those low, breathy dynamic is harder than belting. When he sings like that, that is what truly melts my soul and connects me to him.

Dimash Kudaibergen Fan Club in Japan presented an interview with the famous Japanese lyricist, author of the text "Ikanaide" Goro Matsui. The poet shared what emotions Dimash's performance of one of his favorite compositions caused him: "I've heard" Ikanaide "performed by overseas singers in their native language many times, but this is the first time someone has sung it so beautifully in Japanese." "I heard Dimash singing" Ikanaide "by accident. The first thing that impressed me was his crystal clear tone and expressive voice. I heard other Asian artists perform the song many times, but despite their magnificent vocal skills, none seemed to capture the true meaning of the original lyrics. In the chorus of the song, the line "Ah, Ikanaide" is repeated several times. And although these are the same words, each line has a different meaning. And it seems to me that Dimash felt it. "

Its often the case with his covers. He sings like he feels the true feeling of the song. More even than the original composer did. It is really a thing to marvel about. Its most striking with Daybrake, Hello, love is like a dream, sos. But i think that the credit must also go to Erlan Bekurin his arranger. He rearranges those songs just exactly as they should be arranged to be true to the emotions in the lyrics.

@@josephanna9349 yes, Dimash's team is also always at its best. but it was Erlan who said in an interview that Dimash immediately knows how the song will be performed, what will be in it, and so on.

I'm emphatically not a crier. I love all Dimash's music but unlike a lot of his Dears his music had never brought me to tears until this song. Halfway through the first screening of this performance in Japanese with originally no subtitles I found myself crying, not just quiet delicate tears but big ugly sobbing. The next song of his that did that to me happened on Saturday at his concert in Armenia, I'll Die For The Wind of the Mountains. He'll probably never sing it again but omg, it was hauntingly beautiful.

His barely audible whisper and soft baritone always breaks me into a million pieces here💣 I love Ikanaide, Dimash's performance is way better than the original.❤ The creator of the lyrics admitted that of non-Japanese vocalists, only Dimash could so wonderfully convey this text in singing. Simply a masterpiece😍 Greeting feom Poland😋👍🇵🇱

Dimash is not only a master of vocals but of silence. Few reactors notice this, but you did. My favorite is the moment of dead silence in the middle of "Hello" from The Singer 2018 and the long moments before he starts singing in Ave Maria New Wave 2021 and Love Is Like A Dream in Moscow. In the case of Dimash, silence is indeed golden.

This song is absolutely beautiful and is the Japanese version of Autumn Strong the Chinese version. You should check it out along with the story behind the song itself that is told in one of the videos called “ Dimash translated: the true story behind AutumnStrong” Very worth the time in my opinion. Dimash had the audience in tears when he performed it for the first time on a Chinese show I Am Singer... oh , Dimash learned the song in a week !

Thank you so much for your genuine appreciation of Dimash’s talent! Dimash does not use his vocal abilities to show off, but to serve the song: through his voice, he’s telling us a story. Thus, listening to “Stranger” is in and of itself a musical journey, where we’re accompanying Dimash through this “stranger’s land” with each and every vocal technique and singing style which denotes a different culture and path in life. Likewise, when listening to Ikanaide, I feel his emotions, and it moves me as a result. Dimash draws me into his world with his heartfelt interpretation. I personally love his current performances and work much more than his older ones: he has beautifully matured both vocally and artistically. With maturity, he gained an even deeper understanding of the songs he interprets, and it definitely shows in the delivery of his recent performances. You should definitely check out “Ómir Óter”, his original Kazakh song, composed for him. Please react to both his official MV: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bofVdnmmqpmGbqM , as well as his live performance from his online concert, aka, Dimash Digital Show: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bIvKap2Bh7N2fJo (FYI, here’s the link to an article on Dimash official website on how the song came to be, as well as the vision behind the MV: en.dimashnews.com/omir-oter-ode-to-life/) Cheers from Texas!

Dimash takes his listeners to another world. Sometimes it is back in time, to a tragedy or injustice, absolute love, or incredible ancestral journey. He is an incredible singer, but he is also an absorbing actor and humanitarian. He really truly does feel the pain in his music, and he is screaming from the Universe for everyone to hear his message of love and peace. His Dears absolutely adore him, and it is with good reason. Please watch more of his performances, Sir. You will never be sorry you did. As an acting coach, you might like the original video version of "Story of One Sky" See you on the other side of Oz Sir :)

Even though this was in the studio, it is a performance piece for the Japanese Jazz Festival, his first Japanese song. its actually a piece he has sung before, just in Chinese. Chinese version is called Late Autumn or Autumn Strong (different lyrics but about the same woman). As a Japanese speaking person his pronunciation was so spot on too, it amazes me how good his pronunciation was. If you like the studio stuff, he did others for the Tokyo Jazz Festival in 2020. Samaltau is particularly mood evoking. kzbin.info/www/bejne/i6ewg56fjtpmgNU This one is in home studio in Kazakhstan.

You and others have commented that Dimash is a bit dramatic at his concerts, but disagree. He has to and does command the entire stage and encompasses the audience so all eyes are on him. I'm sure everyone has experienced a time or two when our attention strays to something else while the performer is on stage. This has never happened, at least for me, when I watch videos of Dimash. It is as if you might miss something if your eyes ever leave for even a second. However, like in this performance, there is no need for him to exaggerate because he is in a contained area, and because of the way he completely immerses himself into the song, you are brought into this world of pain, sadness, and hopelessness that he is feeling. No matter many times I watch this video, I still find myself realizing that I forgot to breathe.

There are versions taken on the stage, which are very powerful, but I prefer the studio version, it is much more intense. Plus, it is always a pleasure hearing your favourite artist perform in his own language. The events from WWI were so traumatic and devastating for the Kazakhs that they had to be told in a song that translated the emotions of the entire nation. Who better to express them than Dimash?

You can often literally see him getting into and mental place before starting an emotional song and again litteraly pulling himself out of it afterwards. He is pouring his heart and soul into a emotional song that you understand without words. I realised it first when he performed Daybreak on The Singer and I was fighting tears not understanding a single word. When the translation and backstory of the song came out thanks to Gloria Wu I was crying my eyes out.

Finnally, You are the first to ever comment his squeek in his breath at the end of each frace. I`ve mentioned it a 100 times to others but they can`t hear it. It`s almost a whistle tone when he breeads. I started to wonder if it was something wrong with me. Because it is the most beautiful thing I`ve ever heard. So this is my nr. 1 best song of Dimash. He sang it in Chinese too, called Autumn leaves but this version in Japanese is the best I think. Best regards from NORWAY.

This was sung for the Tokyo Jazz Festival. That year they were honoring Koji Tamaki, a Japanese composer. Dimash usually sings this song in Chinese. This was his tribute to Koji Tamaki by singing it in Japanese. Tamaki loved this rendition of his song. 😊

Dimash is at his very best when being intimate. His ability to totally draw in an audience is incredible, and as such, believe one can sometimes feel like one is intruding on his personal moment, by merely watching him. He literally gives every single piece of himself to his performances and, in doing so, gives the songs life and soul! 💞🦌

No doubt about it, this is his very best by a miles. Out of this world. Every time listening to his version of Ikanaide I cry and having a out of body experience, so ethereal. Unbelievable, just spectacular. Superb. Saying all that, I must admit, nobody ever comes closer to the original sang by the great Koji Tamaki. Deferent level of the mastery, purely deep Heavenly all together. Unbeatable.

Koji Tamaki makes me cry through this performance "LIVE' and makes me drained with sorrow. But Dimash took a different approach, effortlessly lifting and holding my heart tight right there, with a moment of silence. And Dimash ended it with beautiful humming notes and a final gesture of pushing something away with his left hand. Surrendering, and I can almost feel the pain subsided.

He llorado mares con Ikanaide.

Hi I’m loving your analysis, and how you are willing to let Dimash make you vulnerable, this is a class reaction. I think you really need to listen next to him singing in his own language. There’s a next level connection when he sings in Kazakh, his soul is completely laid out as he sings of the history of his people. I recommend Samaltau from the Tokyo Jazz Festival. He’s singing in his own personal home studio, during the pandemic. There are two traditional musicians with him and that’s it. They can make their instruments sound like storm winds, and like a wolf pack hunting. And then he sings. He totally inhabits the story he tells because it’s his history and he’s passionate about bringing Kazakh culture onto the world stage. It’s epic like this one was epic. No drama, just gripping intensity and laser focus. I really can’t emphasise enough how much I think you’ll appreciate it.

Have you watched The Story of One Sky by Dimash? It is a piece of ART, a music video, in which he showcases not only his acting skills but how versatile his voice is as the background music for the entire 13-minute video. As if the music video is not enough, he then has a LIVE show, of him performing that same 13-minute song LIVE on stage, which, if you watch the video first, is just an unbelievable and exhausting (for Dimash) performance. He is vulnerable, he is almost begging for world peace and I have a feeling, by the end, you will be lost for words and flowing over with emotion.

The most important notes in this song are the ones he doesn't sing at the end... his expression, his gestures, says so clearly that he's tried, and failed, and can't bear to beg any more. The acceptance of the loss is absolutely soul-shattering, and there isn't anything he could have said or sung to make that any clearer.

Wow! just freaking soul-shattering! I could see the woman speaking, begging crying, and how much she was destroyed by their parting. like a child begging and then having a tantrum and finally realising that no matter what she does, its the end.
