Hello. Hey Kurt. I want to get in an acting class so I can have an agent help audition. But the thing is that I'm a little embarrassed to ask my parents to get me a class. Can you give some tips?
@deriah46223 жыл бұрын
I reccomend just giving them idea or trying to collect some money, so you can pay for the first classes yourself, to show them your serious about it! Oh, and give classes your full attention, agent will come with time. First learn everything, try to reach yourself for some ads castings, take headshot, complete a little resume and go for it!

Thanks Kurt for your videos! Please give me advice about which online classes should I start taking as a beginner acting student. I’m a senior in High school undecided between the Sanford Meisner center, the Lee Strasberg Institute and Stella Adler studio. Which technique do you recommend to start my foundation? Thank you 🙏
@ActingCareerCenter3 жыл бұрын
That's totally up to you. There are successful actors who studied all three. I, personally, studied Meisner and that has been great for me.

44:51 according to a former HBO casting director, actors who are also KZbinrs are taken less seriously and may not even get a callback even if they’re right for the role. That might be why not many actors, even established ones, have KZbin channels.

Hi kurt i have a question i was wondering i'm 19 now and i live in belgium my plan is to go to a drama college out here then when i graduate move over to LA to start my career as an actor but i would love to get into musical movie's like high school musical or a week away but i'm afraid i might be to old by then to play as a teenager any comments or advice on this thanks in advance

In sex education show Eric effiong is played by ncuti gatwa who's 28 years old age was never a problem
@ActingCareerCenter3 жыл бұрын
Your actual age doesn't matter. What matters is if you can still play the character of that age. There are plenty actors in their 20's or even early 30's who play teenagers in movies and shows

I have started acting classes a month ago, could I ask what would be the next step to take to get me to a working actress?
@ActingCareerCenter3 жыл бұрын
Focus on your training. Your acting teachers will let you know when you are ready to start auditioning or when to pursue and agent.

I’ve just turned 41 and now I’m looking at acting classes but there not a lot in my city except for some improv classes and physical theatre. All the good stuff that sparks something in me is in another city. Hmm.. I guess it comes down to how bad I want it

Good idea! 45:00 I think I'll start. I've got lots of material. The channel could be a source of showreels and one woman shows! I was so depressed (covid depression - the Sinkhole Effect) I didn't think of that! I haven't done as much as I could have.

Congratulations on the booking! That's awesome! Slateshots are used on Actors Access and yeah, they are basically just a slate of you saying your name and maybe your height as well.

The first step before anything else is to start taking acting classes. That will clear up a lot of confusion when you get to ask the teacher questions in class.

Hey Kurt! So I’ve had a few questions about being eligible to join SAG-AFTRA. On one of the requirements it says I could work as a principle for a day under a SAG-AFTRA production. How exactly do I find or get booked for a PRINCIPAL/SPEAKING role in Sag-Aftra so I can be eligible to join the union?
@ktoth293 жыл бұрын
Smaller Union projects will occasionally advertise on local message boards or in the back of a newspaper. If you do well enough in the audition to get the part, the producer will pay a bounty to the Union to let you join. This is called "Taft Hartley" based on the law that allows producers to hire non union members if no union members are available. However, joining the Union doesn't really help you unless you are already an experienced actor in a market with lots of union projects.
@ActingCareerCenter3 жыл бұрын
The vast majority of SAG-AFTRA productions will go through talent agents to find actors. However, you may be able to find some without an agent via casting websites like Actors Access. Just be prepared that publicly posted casting calls often get thousands of submissions so the competition just to get an audition is fierce. All that being said, there are pros and cons to joining SAG-AFTRA and for actors who are newer, the cons often outweigh the pros. Check out this video on SAG-AFTRA if you haven't already: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iGqqZIaEn8maadU
