I always thought it was a reference to the band, but I've just looked it up and this series was broadcast about 6 months before their first album came out. That plus the Kevin Spacey thing is making me think Pete can see the future.

Yeah, didn't you see the big screen version of Rising Damp where Ralph Fiennes plays Rigsby? Samuel L Jackson plays Phillip, Zac Efron plays Alan and Susan Sarandon played Miss Jones.
