This is what Lara does to so many people. Like someone said on a different reaction: "She's a powerhouse of emotions". She really draws people into the story and into her performance. The audiences across the board become like one either her. Such talent, such beauty the world...she's one of a kind. To you then I want to say that it is such a beautiful thing that happened to you. *Ok, you have now once again experienced the chameleon known as Lara Fabian. This song is a 'man's' song from a man's perspective, but sung by a wonderious woman. It is song of unrequited love and she displays the type of devastation only a man can feel. She transforms and sings as a man. LOOK at her disgust expression, like a man trying to ignore and compartmentalize his feelings. This is WHY it effected you so much! You understand the meaning. Language through words are not necessary only the communication of feelings. Lara is NOT affraid of men songs, e.g., "Je Suis Malade" same deal, a man's song by a woman. LOOK at her afterwards in both examples, it takes her time to return from the astral exchange of consciousness. I have not seen Lara do this since the "Lara with Love" concert. If you decide to modify the video to avoid copyright claims, I would suggest you add a B-Roll with comments during the song instead of just deleting the audio. I can't express how frustrating it is to listen to a beautiful song and have the audio go away for 30 seconds! Regarding this song, despite the fact this wasn't written by Lara, it is one of her most beautiful songs. I have not listened to the original and don't plan to. Everytime I listen to something Lara does then listen to someone else doing the same song they come way short. Perdere l'amore means losing the one you love as in a wife leaving her husband. Perdere l"amore makes more sense if it is translated as part of the full sentence. Perdere L'amore quando si fa sera... This means losing the person you love late in life, when you have an extra wrinkle on your forehead that was not there before. I grew up in Italy and watched Sanremo that year. The feeling you have is right on. It is a feeling of great loss and regret. A very powerful and emotional song. When I watched this song I was only 14 and I didn't know this would happen to me.

When we listen to a video dear Brandon we better not close our eyes to feel deeper about a song or withdraw our eyes from the monitor for a long time to read its lyrics. We don't loose not even a single face the artist makes on stage, especially an emotional and respectable and beloved artist like Lara. And of course we also avoid to comment too much while the actor is still performing. We have all the time to do so by stopping the video or after the video. And maybe taking a look at the lyrics before the video starts. Even if this knowledge means we are not abusolutely ignorant about it and this is not exactly our very first experience with it. Besides there are some "details" we must know as listeners and even more as reactors before we listen to a song. Like the "on t'aime" the crowd sang to Lara on Paris 2001 concert, changing the lyrics to show her how much they love her and needed to help her escape from the tragedy she was facing at that time. There are some exeptions, some abusolutely necessary informations we must have before a "first reaction". Though I suppose I am a little suspicious about "first reactions". I mean I cannot understand if the music reactors live on another planet and so they really need the advice and proposals of their followers to discover songs, especially old and famous ones. But because usually your "first" reactions look really first, this question takes a break to be answered later. I hate to give advices, especially to you, one of my two or three most favorite reactors. Hugs

I understand your point about having some background knowledge or context before reacting to a song, especially when there are significant moments or details that enhance our understanding and appreciation of the performance. I know it's supposed to be, ultimately, 'about the voice' and I understand that you're often moved by the aspect of Lara's performance, alone, however, since you bill yourself as an "Acting & Performance Coach",(it would be a different story if you were here purely to "react" to the quality of her vocals) it is somewhat frustrating to see just how much of her performance(s) you miss out on (at least upon your initial viewing) when you're effected to the degree that you feel you must look away, close or cover your eyes. So much of what she brings to the performance is about how she uses, whether consciously or otherwise, her bodily gestures, movements, facial expressions, etc. to convey the message and emotion of a song. If the voice wasn't there, these elements wouldn't matter to me but in her case they really do enhance rather than detract from my enjoyment of the music and song. There are so many examples - even here with this performance when she embarks on the final sustained note, _the vocal stands on its own, of course_ but the way she tilts her head, closes her eyes and moves her mouth makes it that much more appealing and touching.
