I'm 72, a former musician and hard core heavy metal and hard rock fan my whole life. Discovered Lara watching reaction videos. A reaction to Je Suis Malade popped up and completely changed what I listen to. Never has anyone in the music industry affected me like this woman. It's a damn shame what the recording industry here in the states did to her, basically depriving us of one of the best voices EVER. I like your basic superstars that need no mention here from reputation alone, but I'm not at all embarrassed to say that none of them chokes me up like this woman. I feel every note this woman sings. She makes me want to cry when I hear her sing. Not to mention she is one of the most beautiful women on the planet, inside and out.

Peter, I saw many comment from other heavy or hard rock metal fans that fall under Lara’s spell in the same way you did. And thinking about it, I’m not surprised, it is more consistent than how it looks first. I believe you are attracted to raw and sincere stories and emotions. That’s what attracted you to metal, heavy or hard rock 🤘. Now the same happens with Lara as she is the ultimate raw and sincere performer and emotional powerhouse on stage.

I think I have written the same words. As a professional musician most of my life I found Lara while watching reaction videos two years ago. Since then I just can't get enough. I have performed with some very famous singers over the years, including recordings, movies, television, operas and musicals, but Lara is the only one who makes me tear up on a regular basis.

Also, let's give gigantic props to all the musicians that play with her. Every configuration of groups behind her whether or not a full orchestra or just a basic band are all excellent. Pierre on piano with her in the concert with just him, the 3 violinists and the cello has to be some of the most beautiful music I've ever heard. Never have I heard a piano and a singer so in synch as they were.

@@peterpelletier176 Great point. Pierre Grimard was particularly good with Lara. Her En Toute Intimite concert represented, in my opinion, the pinnacle of her expressive power. Partly because it was "naked".... no big bands, or props, just Lara with Pierre and the string quartet. Cheers!

I'm listening to this again one year later. I think I finally understand why Lara is my favorite performer of all time. She has had an emotionally difficult life and as a human being she has flaws like everyone...but, in all of her insecurities and questioning herself, she has turned everything she is into perfection. I do not believe there is a more complete performer on the planet. There is just no one else in her league. Her artistry is one of a kind. When she is performing she is the most beautiful woman, the greatest singer, and her wisdom and feelings are synthesized into timeless art. And now, in her fifties, she still has a magical glow that identifies her undeniable mastery of the art of performing. Since first hearing her almost three years ago, I still listen to her every day...because I have to.

Parceque tu pars is "because you're leaving", it's about suicide and its consequences. She wrote it about herself. She used "you" instead of "i", she was talking to herself. I love this song and this performance, so powerful.

This song hits me so hard every time I watch it. It fills me we utter terror, to think how close she got to leave this world behind. To think, that her magical ray of light in this world was almost extinguished. To know how deep her desperation, her anguish, her hopelessness was. To know that there are people out there who were capable to hurt her so much, that she lost her will to live. I'm a few months older than Lara, I've been her devoted fan since '94, I was a singer until my mid-forties, and I've never seen anyone singing like Lara does. Not even close. Not even in the same galaxy. There were/are great singers with incredible vocals, from Piaf to Callas, to Streisand to Aretha to the trio of Whitney, Mariah and Celine. Still, none of them were able to bare their souls with every single song like Lara does every single time. She doesn't sing to be admired or to be worshipped like most the so-called divas out there. Lara tells us a story, she reaches out to her audience to take the journey with her. Every note, every breath, every glance, every gesture comes from deep within. Her magic is her incredible gift to touch our heart and soul by her honesty, her warmth, her empathy and love that just radiates from her like a beacon of light in complete darkness.

agree with every word written by peter pelletier (below) and I am 80. Gorgeous human being who has battled Cancer, I think twice and other major health issues in addition to having more angst than one person should have for other reasons than medical. Finished 4th in contest at age 19 won by Celine Dion but does not explain being unknown in USA. Plus, I have never ever seen or heard a singer with the ability to convey such a gorgeous sound mixed with emotion that drowns you in oceans of tears.

Being a professional musician, had I had the luxury of not hearing this angel in the body of this beautiful woman? I immediately cried when I heard her sing. Cause you are leaving cause you are leaving we'll remain broken before the irreparable cause you are leaving cause you are leaving we'll hold close the unbearable cause you are leaving Swear that this failure Is not your future What had bug you Forget it to choose yourself And if you want we'll break the face of this destiny that leads to be lonely Cause you are leaving cause you are leaving we'll remain broken before the irreparable cause you are leaving cause you are leaving we'll hold close the unbearable cause you are leaving Cause you are leaving cause you are leaving we'll questionne every inavoidable day cause you are leaving cause you are leaving we'll hold close the unbearable cause you are leaving

SHE WROTE IT! LARA with links: Lara Fabian is a Canadian of Belgium birth and Italian/Franco/Flemish cultural heritage. Lara spent a decade in a Brussels Conservatory studying piano, composition, and voice. Lara is a full lyric soprano with a vocal range that spans three octaves (A5, B4, BB4, C3, C5, C#5, D5, E5, EB5, F5, F#5, G5) in live performances. She is multilingual; in fact, she speaks French, Italian, Spanish, and English and has sung in 12. Lara, who describes herself as a songwriter/singer, has sold over 30 million records and plays to sold-out venues worldwide. She lives in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, with her husband and daughter. I never saw her so deeply desparate and so extremely happy, so expressive and free and passionate than she was in Paris concert 2001. That's why I consider it by far the concert of her life. Because she lived a whole life that night on the scene. I also never saw so deep love from an audience to an artist. And it was not only the "Je t'aime" song, the audience was incredible throughout the whole concert. A concert you haven't presented yet to us as a whole like others have done. And I also never saw an artist being so much affected by an audience. That night was almost a psychotherapy for her and her struggling with suicidal thoughts. She changed her mind and decided that maybe this life worths living. I don't understand what the hell she is doing so many years in Canada, a country so close to her SONY tragedy in USA and so far away from her parents, her birthplace and birthplace of her husband. Of course some French journalists etc mistreated her in her beginning as an artist but if I was Lara I suppose I would live in Paris to express my gratitude to the unbelievable love I experienced in the 2001 concert. Congratulations for your increasing subscribers, from 8 thousands they became 24 thousands within a year. Hugs Greece

This is certainly an out-of-world experience, being in the presence of this human being's delicate and sensitive, yet powerful projection of raw emotion. It must have been such a privilege seeing this live. Even through the screen, it just makes you gasp because she becomes the conduit that connects you with places and energies inside you that you never knew you had or had long forgotten about. Oh boy, Brandon, we really don't know what was happening in her own personal life during this tour, but it sure looks and hears that it was painfull and learning more and more that she is an artist deeply connected to her emotions and communication intent, I can only agree with everything you pointed out in this reaction. Same show as the song : Je T'Aime (where the crowd sing for her). What amaze me the most is that, not being a french speaking person, you are always spot on in your assumptions ( and even more than I, who is french mother tongue ). This is probably your clearest, articulated, kinesicially analysis of hers. She is something else from everything I've seen in all the artists and a hundred of shows I've attended in my life ! You should be an actor's director. ❤

The song is more than melancholic, it is about someone who left - or is about to leave - all others by committing suicide. And she wrote this song when she felt bad and had such desperate ideas. Believe it or not she said once that she was about to do it one night when she was here in Paris. Fortunately she was in a famous restaurant (Hotel Costes) wheb she decided to do it and when leaving it, she met Françoise Hardy, a very famous french singer and songwriter, that she admired a lot. Françoise came to say hello and told her that she had the feeling that something was not ok on Lara’s side (how did she perceived it ?) and that she should find the force to go thru, Françoise also said that she was appreciating a lot Lara as an artist. It was apparently a 5mn talk but it changed Lara’s mind and her life.

Brilliant, insightful review into what has always astounded me about Lara - her ability to strike into my soul each and everytime and leave me mesmerized! Technically I feel her breath control, her diaphragmatic support and her power enable her to alter her dynamics smoothly and at will so that she can express almost any emotion in any position.I am truly enamoured by her performances, even today.

Amazing commentary!!!👏👏👏 She did say in a clip of interview that she wrote this song for herself and for no one else. It is indeed about her suicidal thoughts. For those wondering, she says she’s in a very good space right now, feeling much better about herself. She’s currently coaching young singers in a televised signing academy. Prior to that, she was a coach for 2 years on La Voix (Quebec’s The Voice) and 1 year on The Voice France. She’s at that stage of her career where she fell in love with giving back and passing on her passion to other artists. Can’t to wait to see her again when she starts touring again✨

I always felt that I belong to France even if I'm borned in Sweden. There is something with the harmonies, the tone level etc. And when that is performed by Lara fabian I want to BE French! To really understand the language and the soul that this music is borned from. She is just everything I love with music. Thanks for an excellent reaction!

Exactly, it's all the little tins that make the big difference for me, in terms of Lara and pretty much all the other artists / musicians / singers. She is humble and grateful when she finishes her song, she immediately gives her musicians a thank you, her pianist, the one she has sung duet with always gets a hug and she seems genuinely happy that the audience claps and acknowledges her preformance. And the way her concerts are produced, when we see them, she is very careful to show all the musicians who are on stage, including her backing singers. She's not afraid to look ugly if the song demands it. She is completely free and herself. I Love Lara. Love Lara ❤ Love from Denmark ❤

She always do something that kind of surprise me. You feel that you follow the melody that can be predictable (not a bad thing) but then she take another tone or path with the melody and you are back on the floor again gasping for air. So she is unpredictable in the predictable where the harmonies can be sort of standard and well known. That's class and why I never get tired of her. Every tone has it's own zip code. And, you stop and analyse wherever you want, if people don't like that, well, find a clip without reaction then. Simple as that! Well done!

I'm so glad you are finally releasing this reaction on YT, it's incredible and truly does justice to this powerful performance of an intense and vulnerable moment of her life. If you look up the translation you could easily think it's a heartbroken love song, but in listening to and watching this performance it's impossible not to feel that it's so much deeper. And only in learning what really inspired it, the despair and suicidal thoughts, does that depth finally make sense. The power of her vulnerability is just extraordinary. Also, I have to mention again, her gift for writing not just incredible lyrics but also gorgeous, soaring melodies, is something I am truly grateful to have in my life. Honestly, having been through a pretty dark time of my own, discovering Lara 4 yrs ago made me feel glad I was still here. The irony of that hits me every time I see this video or hear this song.

You mentioned that concert must have been phenomenal and it was. I've been fortunate to have seen Lara 10-11 times in concert over the years going back to the late 90's in different venues (large & small) over the world. I was at one of these performances at the Zenith in Paris and it was crazy. Huge venue and epic performance even thought I enjoy Lara in more intimate settings (ie Olympia in Paris, Warner in DC ). Now that things have opened up for live performances again, I have tickets to see her in June in Montreal. So looking forward to it !

Lara wrote and sang a lot of wonderful songs. I was 9/10 years old when I discovered her (25 years ago) with songs like Je t'aime, Tout, La Différence... If you have never listened to « L'oubli » (2015), you should look for it on KZbin. It's a song she wrote about her mother's illness (she died 3 years ago). I am not sure that we can find a live version but there is the official video and it's powerful and very moving. Also, there is « Je ne t'aime plus », « I am a-wa », « La vie est là », « Pas sans toi »... Her version of « Le rêve de Stella Spotlight » (Starmania) is very beautiful too. She's my favourite singer. I was lucky enough to see her in concert (3 times), she's incredibly talented and generous.

Her "curling up" was not bad technique. She has such freedom & stability in her support structure, "curling up" has zero adverse effect on her voice. It would be bad technique for those less skilled (because it would affect almost anyone else's vocal production.)
@tnae

Bad technique is not always wrong. Bad technique does not always have an adverse effect on a performance. Bad technique is not always a mistake or an accident. A singer can be talented or skilled enough to overcome bad technique. But bad technique is bad technique…and singing with your body contorted like that is bad technique.

Lara Fabian is the best female vocalist on planet earth. But now I would like to turn you on to a singer who has the most unique memorable mesmerizing voice. Her name is Diana Ankudinova and She’s from Russia nd who many coaches, professional vocalists, and Reactors around the globe consider in possession of the most unique mesmerizing memorable amazing atavistic tribunal primordial shaman goddess voice in the world -any age. Her EPIC performance of “ Rechenka”( River in English) at age 14 ( a MUST reaction) catapulted her to worldwide prominence. An incredible and legendary performance of an old ritual wedding folk that to this day is considered by many professional vocalists and coaches around the world as the most unique and electrifying vocalist -any age , in the HISTORY of talent contests. And along with “ Human” ( lowest possible female range she’s a rare dramatic contralto ) and “ Wicked Game” contributed to her winning not only the kids “ you are super” contest for orphans and adopted children 2 consecutive years but catapulted her to international fame with millions of avid followers worldwide. And Famous composer Igor Kurtoy has accompanied her on the piano on “ Tomorrow Is A Lie” ( 4:26 .. posted by HTB amazing performance) And you might want to read a little about her tragic younger years abused and beaten by her birth mother and put up for adoption at age 3. So traumatized she was unable to speak for a year. But the director of the orphanage one day heard Diana sing along with a musical on a Russian TV show and immediately contacted a professional voice teacher who she knew and began at age 5 giving her lessons. After only a couple days her voice instructor told her mom that in 40 years of working with talented young singers, Diana was far and away the most talented. You may want to continue your Ankudinova journey by reacting the year prior to “ rechenka” when she was 13! She entered her first kids contest in Russia where she sang a song that required masterful yodeling. It was a masterpiece, a tour de force, some say one of the best yodeling performances on any talent show but in this performance it was the controversial aftermath that prompted the audience to give her a 5 minute Standing Ovation and caused a scandal and shouts of Diana being “ robbed”. The following day when it appeared on you tube 50 million people spit on the judges and it was revealed that the contest was fixed and the winner already predetermined and caused a major scandal. And at 13 her rendition of “ Me Voy” in Spanish was emotionally impactful and when I suggested that my Spanish language friends watch they were shocked and couldn’t believe the perfect pronunciation and emotional feelings she conveyed. And the following year and year thereafter she won the 2 “ you are super” Russian contests. After reacting to Rechenka and Wicked Game and Human Please react to “ yodel time” And you’ll witness a yodeling masterpiece. And wait to you watch and hear her at age 13 or maybe 14 on a riverboat cruise ship giving an hour long performance highlighted with her amazing performance mostly in English of a 1920s cabaret song by the famous composer Irving Berlin called “ Puttin On The Ritz” . Not only does she kill it with her vocal electrifying expressions and dance moves but I will not spoil the SURPRISE that will knock you off your chair ( a 12 second teaser she gives the audience that the late great Fred Astaire would be smiling down on her from heaven. ). If Diana wanted to she could easily become a world class.... ( I won’t spoil the 12 seconds) Also when she won her “you are super” contest she performed a song written by Lara Fabian titled “ Tomorrow Is A Lie” accompanied on the piano by the famous composer Igor. She sings it in English and the meaning of this song is so spiritual “ only here and now... Tomorrow is a Lie ( all that exists is the next moment). If you continue to react to Diana, your subscriber base will quadrupl

This the link for this same performance, but at the begin she explains what is this song about, she wrote it to talk about suicide, even it may looks like she is talking about someone who is leaving her, she is talking about herself not living anymore. Plus, she wrote it, and the video has English Subtitles. You dont neet react to it again, of course, I just wanted you to watch again, but seeing her explanation and the powerful lyrics. Thank you. Fabian is an artistic abbreviation of the Italian name Fabiano. The tone is the LAST syllable. FabiAN. Most reactors express it wrong except you Brandon and a few others. As for those who accuse her for overacting they probably mean that every single actor is a liar as well as Lara. They don't understand that singing is acting. Don't be surprised if they would accuse her for not being expressive enough if she stopped "pretending" and "exaggerating". Too many kinds of life Brandon, I am tired. Greece
