A viewer requested a video on shooting action with the Coolpix P610. I originally misunderstood and posted samples of action shot in the video mode. What was really wanted was action shot as still images. This video is a quick look at how to shoot action images with ease.
There are two things to master when shooting action and they have little to do with the camera. First, know the activity you intend to shoot. Knowing the activity lets you position yourself to get the best shots. That knowledge also lets you anticipate the path of the action.
Second, be patient. The Coolpix P610, like most point-and-shoot cameras is much slower than mid to upper level DSLR cameras. So you need a technique to allow it to prepare for the shot, and that means you have to get the camera ready and WAIT for the shot to come to you.
All the clips and images in the video were shot with the Coolpix P610 except the ones that document the camera, which were shot with a Panasonic DMC-TZ5. Editing was done with Corel VideoStudio. Audio dubbing was recorded with Audacity.
