Without a doubt, this is the most informative video for me as a new player getting into the revised core set. Would love to see another complete playthrough like this. Thanks!

Great video. Curious, at 26:19 you said you could play sneak attack to bring in Gandolf at the beginning of the quest phase, yet I don’t see any action windows at the beginning of the quest phase according to the chart you selected. It just says, commit characters, not player action. Is that an omission on the part of that turn order chart?
@COTRPodcast Жыл бұрын
That’s a great question, if you’ll notice that whole step is a green step. That means you can take actions before you commit characters and after.

This is an excellent video, very helpful. Just to clarify, there is an opportunity to use actions in the attack phase between steps. So after choosing an attacker/attackers and exhausting them, they can be readied with an action prior to resolving the damage?

Thanks, yes that is correct

Very nice and helpful video. Glad to see I got the rules right after 1 year of playing. I got 1 question though about the crows in the video. They got cleared by Thalin before its when revealed effect got activated, but what about its forced effect? It does get shuffled back into the deck right because it has been defeated?
@COTRPodcast2 жыл бұрын
that is correct, if we forgot to shuffle them in that was a mistake.

Technically I think you can Sneak Galadriel into play but then you can't use her response, right?
@COTRPodcast5 жыл бұрын
that's true. You could use Sneak Attack to get her into play and use her willpower for example. But her ability would not be able to be triggered. thank you for watching and clarifying.

@@COTRPodcast Doesn't sneak attack's text "put 1 ally into play from your hand" imply that you would be playing Galadriel into play from your hand, and therefore you could use her response?
@COTRPodcast5 жыл бұрын
@@mattboyd4564 no, because you are not playing her. The event is playing her. That's the difference between an ally that says 'enters play' and an ally that says 'when you play from your hand'.
@COTRPodcast5 жыл бұрын
@@mattboyd4564 From the Rules Reference: (1.16) The phrase “put into play” If a card effect uses the phrase “put into play,” it means that the card enters play through a card effect instead of through the normal process of paying resources and playing the card from hand. “Put into play” effects are not considered to be playing the card, and will not trigger any effects that refer to a card being played. “Put into play” will, however, trigger any effects that occur when a card “enters play”.

People make these games way more complicated than they have to be just do what it says on the card if you literally follow the card you won't have these kind of dumb questions
