Google Maps Route: goo.gl/maps/mJ...
A walk from the neigborhood of Highbridge, Bronx over the High Bridge (oldest bridge in New York City) and through High Bridge Park to the Morris-Jumel Mansion (oldest house in Manhattan).
From Wikipedia:
"The High Bridge (originally the Aqueduct Bridge) is the oldest bridge in New York City, having originally opened as part of the Croton Aqueduct in 1848 and reopened as a pedestrian walkway in 2015 after being closed for over 45 years. A steel arch bridge with a height of 140 ft (43 m) over the Harlem River, it connects the New York City boroughs of the Bronx and Manhattan. The eastern end is located in the Highbridge section of the Bronx near the western end of West 170th Street, and the western end is located in Highbridge Park in Manhattan, roughly parallel to the end of West 174th Street.
High Bridge was originally completed in 1848 with 16 individual stone arches. In 1928 the five that spanned the Harlem River were replaced by a single 450-foot (140 m) steel arch. The bridge was closed to all traffic from the 1970s until its restoration, which began in 2009. The bridge was reopened to pedestrians and bicycles on June 9, 2015.
The bridge is operated and maintained by the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation."

I never clicked on a video so fast. When I visited NY in 2015 I tried to visit the High Bridge from the Bronx end - I had seen a documentary on it on you tube - but my family and I ended up walking in the wrong direction and got completely lost. What is interesting is no one in the Bronx seemed to have heard of this bridge. And even the NY vloggers who I follow have not heard of this bridge! Its like NY's best kept secret. And that cute road leading to the Morris-Jumel Mansion and the mansion itself, wonderful! Fantastic video!

Buongiorno. I to am a native born Bronx New Yorker but have been away for many , many years. I personally appreciate Action kid video's as he show's a lot of things and area's within the Burroughs there in the city. One day as crazy as it may seem to other's? I hope to relocate to the city and enjoy the Italian neighborhood community there and meet many great people there.

This was my most favorite of all your videos! I loved it. Everything is in a natural state right down to the city workers at the water tower that only started working when they saw you!!! That must be their hideaway. KENNETH you have a natural ability for this. When you add personal comments, when you tell folks not to come at night. I tell you no lie it is like walking with a friend I'm serious! The comments just add to your sincerity. You are naturally well mannered, polite, concerned, compassionate, YOU ARE A NATURAL, you make people feel like you are their friend that's a very unique and special gift. I think this is going to lead to better things for you (no I'm not a relative)

Lived in the Highbridge neighborhood in the 1970s right before they closed the bridge. Walked it once. There was a Catholic convent next door and the nuns never came outside. Beautiful tree-lined streets. Then the rough times hit, but my family was out of there by then. Nice restoration. Walking the bridge again is now on my bucket list thank to your video.

Thank you for the vlog. Wow, those gaps by the rocks are scary. With all the rocks I imagine how the city must have looked before it was New York. Do you have any info on the Bronx steps to the High Bridge and when they will be accessible to the public. They look like they were once beautiful. I read somewhere that Edgar Allan Poe would take walks on the High Bridge from his cottage in the Bronx.

One time me and my friends even walked across inside the pipe to the Bronx side. Yep...a cop caught us😂. I was in there yesterday but they are renovating the tower. Video will be posted next week. Grazie mille Action kid for another great video . The Morris park area is a part of the Bronx my family lived in way back in the early 20th century to mid 20th century. Including Pelahm parkway area as well. In fact for a very long time there my late Great Grandfather and Grandfather both owned Parkchester distributors which started in the 19 late 20's was a ice block business that came from Bari Italy and evolved into a beer and soda distributorship in the Bronx. Anyway in close i always appreciate your work and video's you bring us here in you tube land if that makes sense , also are or were you close to the Bronx zoo in this video ? And have you done a video in Yonkers area yet? And would you be willing to do one there as well ? That would also be nice. Again thank you for your work. Have a great weekend there in N.Y.C.
