Great video. For how much hate the Subway gets it really is an amazing system. The fact that you can go from The Bronx to Coney Island for under 3$ is still very taken for granted by New Yorkers

I grew up in the country, so the subway is a tourist destination in and of itself for me. I love riding the NYC subway. I've seen some of the craziest things I've ever seen down there. It's a world all its own.

1:44 exactly! That’s what I’m saying. Anyone that insults the subway in front of me is insulting my passion for trains as the same thing goes for other rail fans in NYC. Insulting the subway is also insulting the people who use it, and its vast history. Those haters don’t do any research and just assume what it’s like. I found a guy who can’t even find a correct picture of the subway that isn’t ai generated. Truly pathetic for people to just assume without research. Thanks you have earned my respect

Thanks so much for giving a very detailed instructions on how to traverse via the New York City 🚇 Subway to the Financial District from Times Square! I thoroughly enjoyed it. The oculus looks so futuristic like Bicentennial Man and Star Trek, and it's amazing you can walk through there from the Subway Station 🚉 itself. That was also a pleasant short walk outside after you left The Oculus, through Lower Manhattan. 🏙️ 😎 Thanks AK!

I love these videos it's so helpful! Thank you! Do you have a video already in your catalog that tells you how to read these Subway maps? Your explanation really made sense but I feel like if I was anywhere other than times square or one of the big areas with all the trains trying to get from upper Manhattan to lower Manhattan I would get lost. I've been to the city so many times but only have taken the subway just a few times because I am just so scared of doing something wrong. I know you can use Google maps now but even that the last time I was there in October I decided against just for my own insecurities. I feel like I really need to study with somebody to figure this out lol.
@ActionKid Жыл бұрын
No, I don't have a video like that. I think the best thing to do is to study the map yourself. Google Maps is usually pretty reliable.

I think the most important thing to mention here is to know the direction you're about to go. What happened to us, when we first visited NYC, we entered the wrong side of the Subway. We headed downtown but wanted to go uptown. So always make sure to know which direction you want to go. And we had no idea that there was an unlimited plan with the metro system 😂

Thanks for this informative video! Your explanation of the trains in the subway system is very clear, but I'm still not sure on how to pay the fare. Is contactless payment the same as a contactless credit card? If I were to take the subway just once, would contactless payment be the same, less, or more than a MetroCard? If I ever visit New York, I'll have to do some research first. You call the MetroCard "old-fashioned." I used to take the Boston subway all the time in the days when I'd buy tokens from a person in a booth and put them in the slot. That's the old-fashioned way, and I think less complicated.
@Neville60001 Жыл бұрын
My advice to you (from an old public transit hand who's been doing this for a while) is to get an OMNY card, buy a pass for however long you're going to stay (or fill it up with enough money for the duration of your visit) and use that; *_don't_* use your credit card, as the use of that for fare payment will add up to a lot of money you have to pay on your credit card bill. As for what you said about tickets and tokens-those were got rid of due to impracticality and waste; it's better to have a card like the MetroCard or the OMNY to pay for transit (you can still pay with cash *_if_* you want to, although that'll be expensive, too.)
@monica-NJ-123 Жыл бұрын
@brucesdahms I remember the tokens lol
