3:11 - 3:24 Conversation between mother and boy in Mandarin Chinese. Mother and boy boarded the train. The boy wanted to sit in the dark blue seat(priority seat, 博愛座 reserved for those in need). The mother firmly coaxed/pushed him to the regular seat (light blue) on the other side of the train. The boy insisted on moving over to the priority seat by saying "I want to sit over there". The mother told him the dark blue seats were 博愛座 (priority seat). You could hear her say the word "博愛座" in Mandarin Chinese at 3:23. I guess what happened next was the boy's first lesson from his mother on the etiquette of priority seat.

7:55 - 7:58 and 11:30 - 11:35 The visually impaired man was escorted to the train by a Taipei MRT employee and greeted by another employee when he got off the train. This is part of the routine service provided by the Taipei MRT. If you are visually impaired, you can go to the customer service booth and request assistance. The rep will ask where you are going and make arrangement for someone from the MRT to escort you to the train and meet you at your destination to escort you to the exit.

Could you consider an Upper West Side walk including some key landmarks like Broadway, The Natural History Museum, the west side of the Jackie Onassis Reservoir, Tom’s Restaurant etc OR another Astoria/Ditmars Blvd walk with you actually going into a few of your favourite restaurants (like the Pizzeria you said was good) and sampling some favourite dishes? 🤔
@ActionKid

I’ve done several walks on the Upper West Side already. I can make some more videos 😃

AK, I heard you would like to go back to Taiwan. Next time you are in Taiwan, do not hesitate to ask anyone for answers or help. Taiwanese are known for going out of their way to help people in need. It is in their DNA (culture, education, etc.). You already experienced their random kindness (7-11 triage, free food at Taipei 101 fireworks, etc.) After watching some of your live walks (afterwards) and vids, a lot of your questions and dilemmas can be resolved quickly just by asking people around you. Since Taiwan is a scooter/motorcycle country (There are more scooters/motorcycles than adult population in Taiwan.) and scooters/motorcycles are such convenient and economical means of transportation, my suggestion for your next filming trip to Taiwan is to do live streamings on a Gogoro (electric scooter with swappable batteries). In addition to the walk livestreams, do Gogoro live-streaming. I bet it will catch a lot of people's imaginations. Gogoro is all the rage now in Taiwan. I am pretty sure Gogoro's pioneering concept of swappable battery is here to stay. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rJbUeKmOi5WofpY

Why is the music before the train gets into the platform so good? Probably cause it's a remix of Chopin's Nocturne in E flat major.

Every time I see this subway with the first-rate facilities and cleanliness I realize how 2nd rate NYC's subway is with their dirty tile and filthy floors. This subway looks so comfortable while NY's looks uncomfortable.
@treskro3
@treskro3 4 жыл бұрын
seriously though. Even the newest stations (2nd Av Line) are already starting to get dirty compared to the spotless Taipei stations, even though they are newer. It's a maintenance and cultural issue

However, the cityscape of Taipei beyond subway is 2nd rate compare with NY's.
@garyysu
@garyysu 4 жыл бұрын
@@ericlynn4438 I had lived in both NYC (10+ years) and Taipei (7+ years). It is difficult to make a general comparison between the two cities without going into detail. 1. NYC is definitely richer than Taipei. NYC's average salary is much higher than that of Taipei. But NYC has squandered too much money, including the high income taxes (federal,state, and city) I had to pay when I lived there, without much to show for especially in public infrastructure. Taipei city government definitely spends tax dollars more wisely. NYC should and could have done better with all that wealth. 2. Xinyi district is comparable to Manhattan. The other districts of Taipei are more like Queens, Brooklyn, and Bronx. Tienmu, Muzha and Xindian of Taipei are more like Staten Island. 3. Taipei in general is much cleaner than NYC no matter where you go due to culture and education. 4. NYC does not have a hot spring resort like Taipei's Beito district or Taipei's Yangmingshan, a beautiful National Park. However, Taipei does not have Statue of Liberty or equivalent. Taipei is surrounded by mountains and does not have beaches like Brooklyn's Brighton Beach. 5. Both NYC and Taipei have excellent museums. 6. Again, due to culture and education, It is much safer, a lot safer, in Taipei than NYC. I never have to worry about my safety anywhere in Taipei and at any hour of the day and night. Taiwan does not get rated the second safest country in the world (after Japan) for no reason. I actually think Taipei is a bit safer than Tokyo because you find far fewer drunks in Taipei than in Tokyo. 7. There are a lot more homeless people in NYC than in Taipei. You can find most of the homeless people across the street from Longshan Temple in Taipei's Wanhua district. The funny thing is even the homeless people in Taipei make an effort to keep their small personal space clean. 8. NYC has more varieties of night life, good or bad. My wife, raised in NYC, told me a story about a club she and her friends went to. As they were about to leave the club late one night, they were stopped by a burly African American man who told them to stay a little longer. The reason he was about to perform an act in which he would drink his own urine. You are not going to find that in Taipei. I can go on. But I think I will stop.
