First I‘d like to thank you for your gorgeous content. I‘m really impressed by the preparations of the High Line. The work is done by volunteers. The whole High Line initiative is a big win for the City. I‘ve been there a couple times and I loved it a lot.

Nice to have the High Line without all the crowds. Reminds me of hen it first opened and not many knew about it yet. Good to hear you mention Nelson Sullivan; who as most likely one of the first vloggers back in the 80's. Certainly a man ahead of his time.

@@WilsonFiskTheBlackKingpin only passengers can keep it clean, not the subway workers. if people see litter, they have to pick up after someone's trash and hold down the person & call the cop for a citation. if everyone can do their parts on weeding out the bad folks for months to come, it will be a formal trend, thus keeping it clean.

The HIgh Line is one of the great places to stop off if you're visiting Manhattan. Great in any season I think, except winter. Such a great idea to turn an abandoned elevated railroad right-of-way and turn it into a park winding its way above parts of the city.

Thanks for introducing us to Nelson Sullivan. 07:59 Because of you I have binged watched his videos. He was a fascinating character who produced some great footage, so ahead of his time. What I love the most about his 'vlogs' is seeing what NY (especially the area you're in) looked like in the mid 80s so grimy back then, now its all so trendy!

There is an abandoned spur of the LIRR in Queens that would be perfect for a project of this type, or maybe a bike trail. We used to play up there, access was made at 101st and Jamaica ave. We generally walked North as far as Fresh Pond rd or South to Ozone Park. Our favorite part was where it crossed Park Lane South.
@b.griffin3174 жыл бұрын
Where exactly are the entrances and exists to this abandoned line?
@timothyelbing50484 жыл бұрын
@@thiscorrosion900 I was always told that it was LIRR elevated line that ran to Kennedy airport. Made sense to me because it traveled in that general direction. We played on it, the tracks and ties were long gone and it was quite grown over with bushes, weeds and small trees. You can see it in one of AK videos, the one of Richmond Hill and Woodhaven.

In 2000, I lived for 2 years on west 19th street, just a block away from the highline, aka the weird abandoned track. I'd go on daily runs along the west side highway and pass under the tracks and wonder what secrets lay up there, what it would feel like to walk those old tracks. It always seemed like such a waste of space. What's funny now is that, even though it has been transformed and the space is better used, I miss those days, when it was just a mysterious track overgrown with all sorts of weeds and bushes. It was so New York.
