I lived there from 1977 until 1997. I had such a great childhood. I still have friends that live there and visit from time to time. It’s not a war zone at all. Most of it is very well maintained. When I moved to other neighborhoods, It was hard. I was used to cleaned lobbies and elevators, central AC, 24 hour maintenance friendly neighbors just to name a few. Not easily found in a lot of apartments building. Btw the area that she called a war zone are called town houses. They are very nice and peaceful.

I had gone to freedom land as a kid, wasn’t old enough to appreciate it. Closed when I was 5 years old. Last area to be developed was Bay Plaza in the 80s . There was a Barnes and noble, Kmart , a few years back a mall containing a Macy’s was constructed , that’s the last undeveloped useable land . I’ve never been in it, pass it on the Hutchinson river parkway..

I ended up moving to NC. But now have a friend that lives there, but he has a car. I always like visiting, very nice area. Now that I am older, I could absolutely live there. 😁

I wish I knew you were coming to my area, I would have been your tour guide. You passed my section first. It isn't a warzone she's being extra because they are renovating the outside of the buildings and even our elevators are being replaced. Yes, the bike path is our greenway where we hold most of our festivities. There are playgrounds in every section. You did a fabulous job. 650 credit score is for 1 bedroom. Co-OP city is subsidized making it affordable for the working class. It is based on income. I left Flushing, Queens 20 years ago due to gentrification. This place has allowed me to still live in NY. I am sorry you got caught by the mosquitoes. We also have River run where folks are nursing a community garden. Thanks again for stopping by i wish I could have helped. I would have taken you all over! You rock! Stay safe and blessed.

Do you know how much a 1 or 2 bedroom apartment rent is?
@user-ob3nt2mi4k4 жыл бұрын
@@jaysan6908 The prices range depending on floor, view and the last person. I believe the down payment for a 1 bedroom ranges from 12k ro 16k and 2 bedroom range is 18k to low 20k and then your monthly maintenance range 1 bedroom $800 to 1200 depending on your salary, 2 bedroom maintenance ranges from 1200 and up depends. If you make more than the maximum income they give you a surcharge. So if you make over 100k you would pay more but its its still a bargain. Google Riverbay Corporation co-op city the webpage should have up to date information.

Thank you for the video. I grew up in co-op city. It was nice to see my old digs. This is the first video of yours that I have ever seen and I would like to offer you one bit of constructive criticism. I would’ve preferred it if this video had started as you entered Co-op City rather than as you were approaching Co-op City. I think it was about eight minutes into the video before you actually entered Co-op City. Because I live 800 miles away from Co-op City and will almost certainly never be back there, I would rather have seen eight additional minutes of footage from inside Co-op City rather than eight minutes of footage approaching co-op city. There’s a lot more of Co-op City that didn’t make it into the video and eight additional minutes filmed from inside could’ve covered a lot of what was missing. As I said, this is the first video of yours that I’ve ever watched and maybe this is just how you shoot your videos, a lengthy approach to a neighborhood and then entry. If that is a deliberate, intentional choice, then feel free to disregard my advice. But, if you are open to suggestions, please consider mine.

@Runner Girl Sorry for the late response. Usually I get an email notice when someone replies to a comment but KZbin dropped the ball on this one. Bummer about the job. Hope everything works out. Glad to hear that otherwise you're okay. Double bummer on your favorite running event being cancelled this year. You might want to keep an eye on the NYC situation. Right now it seems that more people are moving out than moving in. I guess the upside to that is that rents and property values will probably be coming down if the trend continues. I lived in Section 5 during the 70s. OK place but bland, boring, soulless and remote. Great views from the bldg terraces tho' lol. When I was there it was mostly Jews and Blacks, and retirees. Lots of controversy and scandal during those days with walls within apartments frequently splitting open and lots of basement flooding. It is, after all, built on top of a swamp. And there was talk about extending the #6 line into Co-op City back then but that eventually went nowhere. No dogs allowed is perhaps the best policy they have.
