Walking Los Angeles : Little Osaka (Sawtelle Japantown)

I walk through the Sawtelle Japantown in Los Angeles. It is commonly referred to Little Osaka. This area features many Japanese businesses, with many strip malls, ramen restaurants, and nurseries. It is less well known when compared to the Little Tokyo of Downtown LA, and a great local spot to visit!

Giant ROBOT!!! amazing gallery and store owned by a really cool guy Eric Nakamura-- local grown/grown-up kid from a very nice SAWTELLE family. if you love Asian art, pop art, toys and more its a must visit. He is a major force in the scene and in promoting young/local artists. Lost a few restaurants with COVID but the area has a lot of great places to eat, walk, go on a date!! Not affiliated with Nakamura/Giant Robot in any way. Not even Japanese or Asian. Did grow in O'ahu. Love in the area and its a GREAT place. Thank you!! This area seldom gets reviewed other than in food reviews--most now gone. Its MUCH more than food. Used to need no advertisement-- it was well known but those in the know, but COVID...........

Tsujita Annex was created by the owner of Tsujita LA because the lines were too long. He was hoping the Annex wouldn’t get too popular so he could keep the quality. It was meant for people during lunch who couldn’t wait for Tsujita L.A. because of the line.

I lived on Corinth just off Sawtelle 4 4 years while attending UCLA. Great sushi and Japanese food then and a lot of Nurserys. Thanks for the update of this area AK.

Nice video there’s actually an actual small mall south you missed. Yes tsujita owns both tsujita annex and LA and also killer noodle. The lines used to be 30-45 min wait so the area looks depressed now.
