I wonder if the county will extend metro rail to homestead like it’s being talked about for years which I doubt. It actually needs to happen because traffic going there is complete hell!

Not at this time. They have approved a less expensive upgraded bus service that will run on the existing busway. They are building completely covered bus stops and will be running train like busses down to Homestead.

@@avaldez823 When the 1/2 cent Sales Transit Tax was passed by Miami-Dade county voters in 2002 the MetroRail extension to Homestead was at the top of the list along with the Baylink extension to Miami Beach. Now 20 years later all they built was a 10 mile Busway to Homestead instead and no rail to South Beach as was promised at the time. The only promised extension that was built was to the Airport which is 3.5 miles long and cost half a Billion dollars. The County still collects Millions of dollars a year from that Sales tax so what are they doing with that money?

They need to make a nicer station in downtown for the Metro Rail if they really want people to start taking it. Something like the brightline station where people feel comfortable waiting 15-30 minutes and maybe grab a coffee or something. In my opinion they should have a link from the overtown station to the Brightline station

@@ActionKid it's an 18 minute ride south from downtown to the Dadeland North station. Then you can either walk all the way in or take a bus to the stops along the front of the mall. You caught the single-tracking schedule on this day, which is pretty painful (both lines running back to back roughly every half hour). The MDT app isn't perfect, but it can be helpful to plan around that.
