Diablo Devs Making New Action RPG! Funding Secured... Looks COOL!

In the aftermath of Diablo 4, its Vessel of Hatred expansion, and the early access launch of Path of Exile 2, it's an exciting time for ARPGs and any accompanying loot explosions. Moon Beast Productions, a development studio formed in 2021 by ARPG veterans who worked on Diablo 1 and 2, is hoping to add its own entry to the nascent ARPG boom, and it's secured $4.5 million in seed funding to do it.

Definitely worth looking at. I remember a D2 complete mod that revolved around a whole new rune system that allowed for the creation and upgrading of items. So everything was about improving your gear with more and more power and abilities with these runes. So for me, as long as there is a vanilla game for me to play and the modding is separate as I expect it would be I am all for it.

LMAO I just found out about this today and commented on your older video. This will be the cream of the crop if it ever makes it out. Modding has been mostly untapped but man I couldn't think of a better team to tackle this.

Mythos online was developed by an old D2 developer which was the internal test for Hellgate London, Mythos was so good that they just made it into a full game and it went through about 5 different publishers before it finally ceased to exist. Mythos back up on steam as single player game, The same developer who helped make the original mythos online is now creating moonbeast and well well well blizzard want their dirty little hands all over this project, im really not surprised considering the history of breadcrumbs that lead back to blizzard. Edit: Look up Mythos online, then look at Moonbeast, right?

Skepticism is the best stance here until we see something real. Then again, new ARPGs being made now can look at LE, D4 and mostly PoE2 to see what's good.

if it ends up not looking like something made in roblox, it may be intriguing. depends how much they have to restrict that destructible environment so the servers don't implode when you max level and just erasing entire patched of land. it's years out so...temper all expectations.

I remember the years in-between D3 and D4 when I really needed to scratch that itch. Then I found Grrim Dawn and fell in love with it. But I still wanted more. I was so hyped for D4 and then when it came it was a fun campaign, the lore and presentation was top tier, but on the whole a bit of a letdown. I still have yet to use the free battle pass that came with my deluxe edition. So, I gave PoE another try and still could not get into it for whatever reason. Then came the news of this new kid on the block Last Epoch, and I found your channel on YT and Twitch. That game was everything I was looking for on a gameplay and mechanical level, I love LE. But there was still a part of the puzzle missing. I missed the lore and presentation of Diablo. Now here we are in the early access of PoE 2. And as a fan of the genre I finally feel like all my dreams have come true. Both LE and Poe 2 are such phenomenal games, and both bring things to the table I have been yearning for. IT is such a great time to be a fan of this type of game. Thank you Aaron, for being such a great content creator and my go-to guy for all things ARPG. I am so glad I found you at the point where I have been enjoying these games more than at any time in my life. God Bless you and your loving family. Congrats on all your success over the last year. I hope your holidays are filled with all the joy and happiness you deserve.

I'm an ARPG snob... the destructible environment is very gimmicky. I would say they should market this as a minecraft + arpg + (some kind of genz pet hotel kind of game). I wouldn't say it's going to turn the genre on its head. Still gave the video a thumbs up though. but game thumbs down.

As much as i like the idea of OG D2 devs making an ARPG... this looks like a mobile game and more like Minecraft than an ARPG. These pew pew fireballs and frost novas look horrendous. I mean the IDEA of destructable world, players creating them etc. is cool, many people love Minecraft too, but i don't think i expect my ARPG to look like Minecraft. I'll probably test it out of curiosity but i doubt i'll be interested in it, by the time this comes out, PoE 2 will be in a much better state. Probably the only proper ARPG i'm waiting for now is Grim Dawn 2.

It's an interesting concept, but one that doesn't click with me. It just looks annoying as hell to navigate / move around in this blocky environment with constant new obstacles from too much verticality and voxel destruction. Plus, yes, it's merely pre-alpha. But I already dislike the visual direction they take with this.

A pre-alpha prototype to secure funding, which they did. I suppose more than anything else they needed to prove one of their main premises - the autogenerated destructable world. This game will surely look quite a bit different on release. We already know the people involved have what it takes to make a game.

No, Max Schaefer is at moon beast. Erich Schaefer works for Torchlight Infinite and David Brevik is responsible for GGG's China's market

This is what world of warcraft needs to do allow players to create there own versions of wow and they host them so things like turtle wow and stuff can be an official thing or same with D2R allow stuff like PD2 and Median XL and other D2R mods to be official mods people can pick from with the base game

Ok, there is one name that really stood out for me here: Overwolf. Eeeeeeew! Hopefully it wont have much influence, but it is not a good sign that they are in any way involved. Kick them to the curb, and Im willing to be more open minded about it.
