And the critic on Ebert's site really didn't like the third movie (he didn't seem to be a fan of any of them, but especially the third one). My wife and I saw 2 and 3 in the theatre, and really liked them. The violence is quick, and brutal--but it's nice to see bad guys who really don't stand a chance, get what they so completely deserve. As much as I liked "Man on Fire", having Creasey die at the end seemed like a cop-out, that they only way they couldfeel good about having him be so unstoppable, was to punish him at the end. These movies show none of that nonsense. Denzel is very good at what he does, and he gives the bad guys fair warning, which they ignore. And they get exactly what they deserve.

The scene in the restaurant... imagine, just imagine being so outclassed, that no matter how big and tough you think you are, despite having a .45 in your waistband, despite having two or three armed friends with you, some guy *EFFORTLESSLY* takes you down and makes you cry like a little girl, without raising his voice or even standing up from his dinner. You're that insignificant to him. He'll have the veal carpaccio, a nice red wine (not too dry), tear one of your arms off and make you eat it, and then for dessert, the tiramisu, please, with just a small spoonful of gelato on top if you don't mind, now put your gun on the table and get out. LOVE this scene.

The funny part is that he just saw 3 of his buddies get dismantled in seconds, without any apparent effort by the other person and he actually thought that he was going to do better. Either he overestimated his own abilities or greatly underestimated the skills of the Lyft driver. I would have been looking for an exit not looking for the morgue.
