Kind of misleading, but not totally false, declaring whether you want to banish 3 or 6 is a requirement for the card's activation, not "cost"

Additionally, as seen on another comment, the card's effect directly references the paid cost, since there were no cards banished as there was no cost, it would excavate no cards, and since a card can't resolve doing nothing, it can't be activated.

You cannot chain serial spell to prosperity because it would look at the top 0 cards (0 being the number of cards banished from your ED to activate Serial Spell), add one of them to your hand (which is impossible since we seeing none of them) and put the rest on the bottom. (Also impossible). Since it is clear at the point where serial spell could be activated that not every mandatory part of the effect is able to be executed, you are not allowed to activate the card at all.

But serial spell ignores cost, and only copies the effect of prosperity, and as prosperity banished 3 or 6 shouldnt you be able to activate 3 of 6

@@kuyagoldlink7563Found the Dark World/Tear player. Fableds don't care unless it's by game mechanic i.e. hand size. If it is discarded, it will activate. They do not need to be discarded "by card effect" to activate. They will activate off of costs on a new chain, so you can even activate them for discarding for cost off of counter traps like divine wrath. Refer to Fabled Cerburrel/Ganashia specifically.

To add to the Layrinthian maze of why you can't chain Serial Spell to Prosperity it's that banishing 3 or 6 from extra is part of the _activation requirement_ which serial spell cannot fufill by it's own procedures when copying. Serial spell can fufill most "costs" for activating cards (such as targeting for monster reborn) and resolve them, but it cannot meet activation requirements (such as the banish for prosp) and if said activation requirements are necessary for the card to resolve (such as in the case of Prosperity) it cannot chain to it.

Cannot Extrav because the number of excavate must be the same as the number you banish. So, no banish, no excavate. But, it should work if you excavate with Duality.

You cannot chain Serial Spell to Pot of P because it will resolve without effect. Similar to Dark Hole on empty board. Which is not allowed. Why not allowed? Well, pot of p allows excavation equal to cost paid. Since you paid 0 due to cost bypass, you suppose to excavate 0 and place 0 on the bottom. Which literally doing nothing, and thus not legal activation.

did you know Bait Doll (for some reason) can also circumvent HOPT? If you use it on your own (live) Big Welcome, you can use Big Welcome's grave effect in the same turn. But also all your other Labrynth triggers miss timing 💀

@bostH0g: If you wait an think for a minutes they is nothing being circumvent in the situation you described, since you force the activation when you just set it this turn and trap card cannot be activated the turn they are set except if an effect says they can. so you never used that effect, so you can used the graveyard effect that same turn. Also keep in mind missing the timing only applied to trigger effect that are When and also optional. In the situation above no miss the timing happen, forceing the activation of a trap card that cannot be activated since it was set this turn, his not considered activating a trap card so that is why labrynth does not trigger.

Konami not so sure about this ruling. So they skipped adding Bait Doll to the Master Duel. Maybe Bait Doll copies the effect of Big Welcome? Maybe the Lab monster was summoned by Spell effect (the bait doll)? Maybe the dev lazy? We shall never know

there's so much I could write but i'm gonna have to keep it simple. witchcrafter haine is hard once per turn not soft the easiest way to tell is if a card uses the words "you can only" usually followed by the words "use each effect" or "use this cards effect" or "activate" and soft once per turn usually start at the beginning of the effect like lonefire blossom "Once per turn, tribute a plant, special a plant from deck"
