I love it. Was there yesterday for this lesson. Came home thinking about it over and over, trying to piece it together. Woke up this morning, and there it was! Obrigado.

Moving the (high-hipped) turtled opponent FORWARD to flatten him and connect one's torso to his back--WOW. Mind blown. Makes so much sense, though. I'm just always thinking about rolling to my back and getting the seatbelt + hooks...

1:12 What is hard for me to grasp is how my opponent would just let go of my Gi with his arm at this moment. Either he'd keep the grip or just pivot over to my right and aim for side control. Anyways, I guess higher belts are able to execute this technique very well for sure as they have way better timing than me haha

it might still work even if he held on

I asked the professor today. If they hold on, their arm will be in a compromised position because their arm will be completely attached to your entire torso open for attacks. But more importantly you need to use proper base and commit to the drag (he described it as an arm drag on the shoulder) - that way if they hold on they will definitely faceplant (I experienced it firsthand so I can tell you that you will faceplant).

No disrespect but this doesn’t work on most experience grapplers.
