Another thing I would consider adding to your punch defense is the clinch as taught in Brazilian Jiujitsu. The clinch can reduce the striking power of an aggressive puncher.

I appreciate the comment. I am guessing based on what you wrote you are not familiar with Crazy Monkey Defense as a 'system'. We have always taught clinch. We have our own unique approach called Straight Jacket Clinch. As a side note, I am a black belt in BJJ (in which we also have a Monkey-Jits program), beginning my practice in the early 90s.
