That first shot here by Ken was one of the most beautiful displays of fluid execution I've ever seen. Superb video, everyone carrying should have this attitude of vigilance. Cannot stress enough how basic and integral these lessons are to carrying. A very affirming video for me personally on my first day of carrying: being strong in sheepdog mentality and unshakable in extreme situations it is the practical application of the protective tooling (marksmanship) that needs refining as a newb. Wilson Combat has been and is continuing to be a bedrock foundation grounding intelligent decisions and positive upward progress. STRIKE TRUE BARBARIC ERIC

The gun the security guard used in TX was a SIG P229 in .357 SIG. I don't know if I could be pressured to make a headshot like that, at that range, in double action that quickly. Some very fine marksmanship was in order on that day.

I especially liked how Ken led with his head and eyes and looked toward the target before bring the rest of the body to square off and draw. It wasn’t a display of range theatrics, but looked like a normal reaction from anyone in condition yellow still surprised by a disturbance or gun shot.

Best most informative instructional class on defensive shooting in church I have ever seen! I am on a security team at my church and feel totally inadequate as I am not a large person and of age, plus I have never been in an actual combat situation and pray I never am. Still I have taken a course on "Shooting from Concealment" and scheduled to take another on "Shooting on the Move and Barriers". Also attended a Security Meeting where a Sheriff Officer gave a three hour class on "Verbal Deescalation and knowing when to talk and when to take action. I can only do what I can do, but am trying to train for it. Pray it never needs put into action!

Brother Ken I live in Pennsylvania. We have had meetings about this and the pastors are on board especially the senior pastor is retired Navy. Problem is I’ve said time and time again let’s tell the congregation that there are sheep dog in the congregation but we have a lot of New York folks that have moved here from New York and the mere telling them to duck and stay calm and let us handle the situation, there would be a complete melt down if they knew there were armed parishioners in the church. Sad, because if everyone stands up we’ve got a problem. Great segment and your a great teacher. Thank you.

@French Frys you are very rude. You also are wrong in your assertion. Georgia SB281, sponsored by Donzella James D- Atlanta, bans all semiauto weapons. A Georgia gun owner would get 5 years in prison for each instance of possessing a semiauto rifle, pistol, shotgun or magazine with a capacity greater than 10 rounds. If SB281 passes in Georgia a person possessing the pistol and two magazines the instructor used in this video would get 15 years in prison.

Thank you. How fitting your comments come at about the same time as the West Freeway Church shooting in Fort Worth. I just watched an interview with Jack Wilson the head of security at that church and the man who took out the shooter. His window was 4-6 seconds in a crowed auditorium. He typically does not recommend head shots but had no other choice. The shooter was carrying a shotgun and had just gunned down 2 people. The shooter was turning toward the front of the building when he was taken out.

Really good points made. One point was the idea of a "headshot" instead of a center of mass shot. A shooting drill called a "failure to stop" drill that is most often trained with in the military and in law enforcement involves 2 shots center mass, a reasessment and an additional, vital shot. That vital shot is aimed either at the "T Box" (part of the head) or in the pelvic girdle. The head is generally discouraged in firefights because it's easy to do in training but not in real life. The pelvis is considered to be a vital area and is easier to hit. It still causes the threat to collapse from the damage to an important body structure. It also is not typically protected by armor.

These scenarios have me debating trigger weights. I hate safeties, but I shoot M1911 handguns very well. I love the triggers and they are great for those split second accurate shots needed. I get that safeties can be trained around, but I just hate having to think about remembering to take a safety off. I shoot my SIG-P320 Compact well, but I can constantly shoot M1911 handguns better.

Head shots do stop the situation. But center body shots are more easy to hit and slow it down the situation. Close in and disarm. I don't know but your right if you cool headed and wait just a second and be confident in your shot placement then take it.

As a safety team member for one of the largest churches in the country , we are fortunate enough to have one of the highest trained and experienced security “volunteers”. I only say that because I want people who don’t know that most church security members risk their lives by choice to protect. This video has good points, but as someone who has had the opportunity to view unedited footage of the Texas shooting now more times than I can count there are a couple points that have to be made. The first is the fact that the initial security member who was shot 1st was carrying SOB ( not recommended) and took 5.6 seconds to draw his weapon and was killed in that time . The killer then fired on the unarmed usher killing him second. The head of the team in this time was able to draw and fire a single head shot ending the threat in just over 10 seconds. Leaving out the fact that they had already identified the killer as a potential threat, those times where an eternity especially for the two innocent men who lost their lives. God bless those men and their families and for those of you who choose to serve in this way... 2.5 seconds.
