@@maxvcollenburg I just HAD to tell you this! Soooo, I was just having an on boarding Zoom call with Active campaign, the guy is at LEVEL 20. I was doing a screen share aaand I showed him the tags spread sheet. I could tell he was SUPER IMPRESSED, remember level 20! I gave you ALL THE CREDIT. I am wondering the membership and the sales tags seem to overlap. Do you use both?

@@darciayur Hey Darci! Haha, that's great! I use the membership & sales tags for different things, so in my system is great to have them both. I would for example have; [Event] Visited: xyz - sales page [Event] Visited: xyz - checkout [Sales] Purchased: xyz [Playground] Access: xyz The first two event tags get deleted when someone purchases the course, because there's no need for them anymore. But the other two tags stay in their profile. Hope that helps!

As a new user to ActiveCampaign, I see you creating all of these Tags and automations and wonder how I won't get lost in all of the automations "Acting" on my list of contacts as I continue adding contacts, tags and automations year after year? How do we stop and SEE what all is happening in our ActiveCampaign system as it's evolving?

Hey Thomas! Thanks for the kind words! 😄 Great question! This is something not so many people think about, and after a few months they're loose the overview of their system. I personally created a document for myself in which I created an overview of everything that's happening within ActiveCampaign (and other tools that I'm using). So I would list out how people can join my list, and which automations will be triggered first. Then, after people finish those automations, what happens next etc. I hope that helps you into the right direction! I'll consider making a tutorial about this in the future, as I see how it can be helpful for some people 🙃

Hey Igor! Thanks for the kind words! Tagging someone who leaves early really depends on the webinar software you are using. Most of them have a setting to add a tag when someone leaves early. Which webinar software are you using? 🙃

Hey Gogog! Thanks! I think it depends on what you want to do. If someone requests a specific download, you need to specify that with a tag or custom field. You would not want to use a list for that.

There is so much value in these videos... Max, I have a question I am moving another list into an active campaign but and want to change the tags using this framework along with having custom fields do you know what would be the best way to go about this? ie should I create all the tags and custom fields first and then import them. RIght now I have tags for everything and would like to change this to keep it clean.

Hey Paul! I think there's multiple ways to do this, but this is how I would do it; 1) Create the custom fields & tags you need. 2) When importing the new contacts, try to map all the data to the right custom field & tags. 3) Tags are a bit difficult as you can't change them immediately when you import them, so I would use the Bulk Edit feature to find people who have certain tags, apply the new one, and delete the old one. Hey Pamela! Multiple tags in a form is a bit tricky. I'm not sure what kind of things you'r asking, but would custom fields not work for you? I, for example, like to use multiple-choice custom fields to segment my audience. Hope that helps!

@@maxvcollenburg I think, I know what she is asking, she could have the same confusion(s) that I have at this moment. So, we create first lists (I have "Newsletter" and "Main contacts") and than we create forms to each actions and connect them to the corresponding list, if I understood it well. So we can create different forms to just one list, right? When I sell a product on Elopage and the buyer clicks the button "Get newsletter" by purchasing my product, I normally wouldn't need to create a form 🙄 because the form is within Elopage. But I suppose I have to do it even though, even when I don't use the optical form itself. My problem is that in Elopage I only can choose a list within the integration process to AC, but as a list can't be tagged, only a form, how can I know who inscribed to the newsletter buying my product on the Elopage side or with another action? Should I create different lists then and add to each list a form with a tag (i. e. List Newsletter Elopage + form + tag "Bought a product")? On what does depend, which URL we enter as list-URL? Is it always the homepage-URL of our website? Or is it my account-URL in Elopage, if the list is related to Elopage? Where will all the "following" tags come from (i. e. "recieved welcome e-mail"), in the automotion itself manually, or how do we get them? I hope you understand, what I mean 🙈 and sorry for so many questions. Thanks for your answer!

Do you recommend Title Case rather than lowercase for the tags? I see that your framework has them as such. Wondering why that is... (you seem to have thought things through so I'm guessing there's a good reason!

Hey Max, first of all, thank you for your videos man. They have changed the way that I use Activecampaign completely and for good! Quick question. Can I create a tag that says for example "Week 1" based on the date a subscriber got added to an automation? And for that tag to increase +1 each week? So that the tag changes? It is to segment people by the week they have started a specific course. Thank you in advance!

Hey Nicolás! Wow! Happy to hear my videos helped you so much! 🤗 I don't think you can dynamically change the name of the tag you want to add based on the current date from within ActiveCampaign, but it's probably possible to generate & add that tag with a tool like Integromat or Zapier. But wouldn't it be easier to use a custom field for this? You could create a date type custom field, and store the current date & time into that custom field whenever they get added to your automation. That way, you can easily sort people on when they started a specific course 🙃 Hope that helps!

Hi, You Know if i could create a tag based on form answer, example: client response blue (checkbox with another answer like red, yellow, etc) in a custom field then in automation i create a tag with the answer saved?

Heyhey! Sure, that's definitely possible! You would have to create a simple automation with a bunch of if/elses to check the value of the custom field, and then apply the tag you want. Does that help? 🙃

If you take over an account from a former agency, what’s the best way to figure out their tags? Especially if they named them different

Hard to say. I think I would first take a look at all existing tags under 'Contacts > Manage Tags' to see if they make sense. If not, you might want to shoot a quick email to the former agency as I could take you a lot of time to figure out what they are used for.

Hey Youness! I know everyone is using them slightly different, and there's not necessarily a right or wrong. - I like to use custom fields for things that can only have one value; a preference, an answer to something, a segmentation group, age, address, etc. - And I use tags for things that can exist in multiples. Think about interests, downloads, events, etc. Hope that helps!
